Hina Matsuri (A.k.a Doll Festival or Girls day) is an annual holiday celebrate in Japan on March 3rd. The dolls that were dress up as the Heian court were giving by parents to their daughters to wish a good marriage and good fortune for them, but also scare away diseases that might consume the daughter. Soon after March 3rd, the dolls must be put away immediately and kept for next year. Displaying them permanently would give the daughters a late marriage and bad fortune. Sadly I’m a guy but I really love this holiday.
These dolls are Miyuki’s and were handmade by her great grandparents. Her great grandmother made the clothes and the hair and her great grandfather did the sculpting and most of the crafting. These dolls are very important to her which is why she kept dolls even though she’s a grown women.
Hopefully you enjoy the background of Miyuki and a small history of the dolls.
