His voice spoke calmly as he addressed you. "Oh, are you looking for the wolfman?"
you nod.
"Can you tell him he needn't worry about an antidote for the fattening potion he gave me?" The bird smiled, his eyes showing a bit of humorous gratitude. "It seems Amai... is rather fond of it."
"Fattening potion, Kass?" You can't help but ask, eyeing the belly Kass gestured to.
"Ahh... yes." Kass looked down at himself with a sigh. "You see, I had been ill... for many days. It was an unknown illness, none of our medicines would work."
Kass reached an arm out, gesturing to you. "A monster, or so I thought, had come to our village. Based on your description, this 'monster' happened to be the one you were looking for." Kass put a hand to his beak contemplatively. "He was looking for ingredients. People shunned him away. He tried to explain his intentions, but no one would quite listen -- everyone except my dear Amali. She was running out of options and felt I hadn't long left...."
Kass is quiet for a long moment as a tear comes to his eye. "She heard the monster mentioning potions. She begged for help -- someone who could save me." Kass looked away, his eyes going distant. "She told me he did not hesitate. He rushed in to see me. I remember very little, but he had pulled out a potion and spoke to my wife." Kass folds his arms and looks up at the sky. "It is all paraphrase, but what I remember is, 'this potion can cure him, but it has side effects -- make sure he drinks it all or it will not work. His fever should go down within the hour.'"
You look back down at Kass's belly after hearing the word "side effects".
Kass notices your stare and nods. "Yes, this was the side effect. Temporary as it is, the potion gave me nourishment on top of treating my illness. The nourishment had excess, as you can see."
You question about the location of the wolfman.
"I wish to say he is still in the village, but it has been two days since he saved my life." Kass gives you a sad smile. "He could not bear to see people being afraid of him and left... he was too kind for how he had been treated."
"...."
"Please," Kass asks, bowing down before you, "please thank him for me, and for my family. I want him to feel welcomed in my home."
