When your dads are a sailor and the head of one of the largest infant supply companies in the world, this is the inevitable result! Just like with Clowning Around, I find myself a bit delayed in getting Chapter 2 of Storwan Industries out. Fortunately, here’s some amazing art by the wonderful Myoti to tide everyone over in the meantime (hehe, tide that’s a sea pun folks!)
As mentioned previously Sarlic, a Bat-Rabbit Hybrid (Babbit), is the adoptive son of Tidus and Silas Storwan. Sarlic absolutely adores his adoptive fathers and is forever grateful for them rescuing him from a dense forest in Eastern Europe.
Here are the character bios for anyone who needs a refresher:
Sarlic: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/34802679/
Silas: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35004683/
Tidus: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35004874/
After having an early life filled with either abuse or neglect, Sarlic is much happier receiving the tender love and care associated with being a baby. Still, his dads are incredibly protective of him, especially after their first attempt at adopting a child went so poorly.
Sarlic understands his fathers’ point of view and has tried to make himself useful by becoming the head of culinary development at Storwan Industries. With his sophisticated palate, he can put together mouth-watering recipes in practically no time at all!
Despite this, he deeply admires the work his fathers are doing in helping hybrids around the world, and he wishes he could go out and help them on rescue missions.
Here we see one such instance:
Silas and Tidus sat within their office at Storwan Industries, looking over a map on the desk before them, multiple coordinates marked off, but the exact location of what they were searching for still eluding them.
“Should we send a reconnaissance team?”
“At this time of year! They would be frozen before they got miles within the region.”
“Still, remote probing hasn’t worked, we must find a way to…”
The two were interrupted by an abrupt knock upon the door. Tidus raised a brow as they hadn’t scheduled any meetings for the afternoon. He gruffly squawked, “Come in!”
To his and Silas’ surprise, Sarlic came into the room, sporting an adorable sailor suit. Well, the term ‘suit’ could be used loosely, for the only thing covering the timid babbit’s hindquarters was a large, puffy swim diaper, held taut upon his waist by six golden buttons and adorned with an orange and white life preserver on the front panel.
Sarlic beamed as he twirled around and said, “Papa! Daddy! Look at my new outfit!”
Silas clasped his wings together and cooed, “Oh Sarlic darling you look positively precious!”
Tidus warmly clasped his son around his shoulders and chuckled, “Well, look at you kiddo! You’re becoming a mariner just like your old papa!”
Sarlic nodded his head rapidly and said, “Uh-huh! Reporting for doody!”
“It’s reporting for ‘duty’ sonny but close enough.”
“Hehe, sorry. Capri made this outfit for me, plus the diapee I’m wearing is the FLOATIES everyone has been working on. They completely contain messes you make, even if you’re in the water and, it has a built-in layer of foam that floats. Capri says it’s going to be perfect in helping both little and big babies like me learn how to swim!”
Silas nodded and warmly said, “That’s wonderful sweetie, and I’m so happy that you took the time to model them for us in your new outfit, but Papa and I are doing very important work regarding our next mission, so we will have to continue the conversation later.”
A light blush of pink crept upon Sarlic’s pale cheeks as he began to nervously play with his fingers. He then murmured, “Um, that’s actually kind of what I wanted to talk to you about Daddy. You and Papa are always sailing around the world and helping hybrids… like me. I thought if maybe I had a sailor outfit too, then I could maybe… go with you on a mission?”
Silas paled upon hearing this and he turned to face Tidus with a worried expression. Tidus’ expression mirrored his own, but he quickly shifted into a reassuring smile as he said, “Um, well kiddo. Your new outfit is sea-worthy, but sailing isn’t the only thing we do on these missions. We go to a lot of dangerous places.”
“B-but, I want to help!”
Silas sighed, “Oh darling, we know you do. That’s more than we can say for many others in this world, but we couldn’t bear if something were to happen to you.”
“I could be extra careful! I-I could…”
Silas shook his head and firmly, “I’m sorry, Sarlic. Papa and I are standing firm with this decision.”
The Babbit felt his ears droop around the navel cap perched upon his head. He knew that tone. It was the tone that Silas used when he dealt with the companies lawyers or the board of directors. It was a tone that demanded obedience.
“Yes, Daddy. I understand. I’m sorry I wasted your time.”
Silas softened upon hearing this and replied, “Oh darling, my time is never wasted when it comes to you. Please, let’s all put this behind us. Why don’t you run along and show your friends that lovely little outfit of yours.”
Sarlic gave a half-hearted smile as he said, “Okay Daddy,” and slipped out of his father’s office.
Silas heaved a heavy sigh as he clutched his chest and murmured, “Oh I do so hate being strict with him. He’s such a sweet child that it breaks my heart to deny him anything.”
Tidus huffed, “I hear ya. I bet he put a lot thought into that little number, hoping it would convince us to let him go.”
“Oh it was too precious, but would not be suited for the arctic North.”
“Plus out on the sea it definitely be harder dealin’ with his… condition.”
“Oh heavens, I hadn’t even considered that! Oh, I could only imagine if we were away from home and that happened. I don’t think I could handle it again.”
“Don’t worry, Love. We won’t. Sarlic is staying put as long as we have anything to say about it.”
“You’re right, dear. It’s for his own good… and everyone else’s.”
~END
Well, that was an ominous note to end things on. While the loss of Katie, the first hybrid child they attempted to adopt, has made them very protective of Sarlic there also seems to be other factors at work here as well. What ‘condition’ does Sarlic possess that would make it unwise for him to leave the walls of Storwan Industries? Keeping tuning in to find out!

Sailor Suits and Diaper Bois go together like peanut butter and jelly. 😋 As for why Silas and Tidus are afraid of Sarlic going on a mission is partially because they tragically lost the first child they had attempted to adopt, a little hybrid girl named Katie, which I covered in the prologue of Storwan Industries. The other important reason they don't want Sarlic to go is because Sarlic suffers a condition that sometimes makes it very dangerous for him to go outside of Storwan Industries. This condition will be explored in more detail down the road in future chapters of Storwan Industries.
