This reference image depicts my fursona, Alex, in their default form, nominally an anthro tanooki. Alex is a shapeshifter and is usually seen in whatever form they want to try out at that moment. This description is meant as a branding guideline so that Alex can be depicted consistently across forms.
I apologize for the length of this resource. I hope the individual points are concise and easy to understand.
Identifying features
The default base color of Alex's body is white. It has various regions with a shared accent color, which ranges from turquoise to pink. In this image, the accent color is lavender.
Alex's base and accent colors can change to match their current species. The new accent color matches the color of any added patterns.
Many accent regions are "morphic resonances". They appear in analogous places on every form. Other morphic resonances include eye color, the messy long hair, the shape of hair (fur, etc.) tufts, and the fanglike upper teeth.
Note the following about specific accent regions:
The 4 whisker-like feelers that look like butterfly wings are the most important morphic resonance. They appear on every form, whether or not it has a face. The upper-left feeler (from Alex's perspective) has a small circular hole at the base.
As in the image, the accents around Alex's eyes combine into a mask shape if close enough. Otherwise, they're just a ring around each eye, including any visible eyelids. The upper boundary of an eye accent can emote like an eyebrow.
The pattern of 3 digital paw pads and a large metacarpal pad can appear on forms without real paw pads (but it doesn't have to).
The tail has a pattern of 7 latitudinal stripes, alternating between accent and base color. The stripes at both ends are accented. Each stripe should be considerably thick. If a tail isn't long enough for that, it has only 3 rings. On forms without tails, the 3 rings appear as an oval "bullseye" pattern around the tailbone area.
Anatomy
Alex is composed of a solid inorganic substance. As a result, they can be harmlessly cut through, detached, flattened, melted, etc., with the caveat that they don't want their head cut into. Their accents extend down into the depth of their insides, rather than being surface details.
Because Alex doesn't need internal anatomy by default, it only exists when they want to use it. This is usually limited to creating a simplified digestive and renal tract, which connects any desired orifices (such as the mouth) to a large central chamber that can act as a stomach or
bladder.
Being a genderflux shapeshifter, Alex frequently transforms between and blends traditionally sexed anatomy. As shown in the image, though, they default to a smoothed-over, null presentation.
Clothing
In this image, Alex is only wearing their choker. It's a TF ring that can revert them to their default form. Because Alex's desire to shapeshift can trap them in inconvenient forms, they always wear this in case of emergency, but rarely really have to use it.
Alex often wears other clothes. I may add an outfit guide later.
