This gave me an idea... if the robutt gets sentient due to glitch etc, shouldnt he/she be obliged to buy off his/her body from the company? After all the company is on the loss when he/she gets freedom.

Some law makers in this world are trying to push that idea,
However the law is currently set up so that if a robot becomes self-aware
they instantly become a person with all rights and privileges, despite any
loss their creators/owners may suffer from it.

If said newely-born person was to be eg. obliged to work out their debt, maybe companies would treat random self-awareness with less disdain?
I mean, that way they would become an asset more than just a loss.
