I love GSDs and I admit, I have a soft spot for their close cousin, the Swiss Shepard. When
Atraties and I are in a position to have a dog, we are considering fostering older animals for the local GSD rescue for a while and then finding one of our own once we have enough experience. White shepherds are frequently found in rescue (certainly not as rare as is perceived!) and I hope to own one some day.
Trying to get back into drawing, so doing some personal pieces. It's been a while since I just drew feral animals for the heck of it! I love drawing dogs.

I didn't know they were called swiss shepards, I was always told they were Canadian-America shepards, which is why white alsatian is more commonly used over here :P
Lovely drawing, and they are a lovely breed. I can believe them being commonly abandoned though, i know someone who got 2 of his 3 white alsatians from the cat and dog shelter :/

Thank you <3
yea, I LOVE GSDs but if they are mistreated or not desensitized to things they can make terrible dogs for the wrong people. That's why I want some experience with them first, because working with a rescue would mean that we could start with fostering easier dogs that are older and then work our way up to learning how to live with and train one. Eventually I want a puppy that we raise ourselves--I love rescuing but I'd like one with certified hips etc. I had a collie-GSD mix that was wonderful--it was like she could read minds. I would love a dog similar to her again someday.
I do wish they would be recognized as a legit color in the GSD breed, they originally were but they started breeding them out because Hitler didn't like them. They make good service animals because the white coat makes them easier for people to see in public places, in addition to all the good qualities of GSDs. There is a movement to get them recognized under the Swiss Shepherd name. Hopefully they retain the body characteristics of the original version of the breed, and not the newfangled weak-hipped variety of GSD the AKC puts out =/.
