2 of this particular class ''Britannia's'' survive in preservation but sadly not this one named ''Royal star'' which is particularly sad for me because my granddad was a railway fireman and worked on this locomotive i have a photo of him standing on the footplate
the story behind this model is of a famous scrap yard in south wales were hundreds of steam locomotives were actually saved for preservation its name was ''Barry scrapyard'' this model shows ROYAL STAR awaiting salvation that would not come for her as sadly the real engine was cut up in 1968 at a different scrapyard in Scotland:(
