Remember folks, don't drop out of trainer's school.
In all seriousness, that's expected of Emily. Afterall she has no experience or understanding how pokemon world works. While Iron Boy and Emily have no knowledge in pokemon; Iron has combat experience while Emily is your average girl. It also it does not help that Emily has no badges which gives her no commanding authority to her pokemon. But similar to Iron's pokemon, her team disobeys her command if it's pointless/dumb. They would use effective moves on there opponents instead. And when Emily commands a right move, they'll listen.
This is more of Dale and Emily's first time interacting. As you can see, they are not fully maxed out on there affection... yet.
For those who are curious on why Emily's is so red on the last panel. To those who played Pokemon games would know... kindergarten kids know how to use pokemon.

For some reason I could expect someone there to suddenly say the comand for Dale to molest the female pokemon...well that might be something Diaz would try to pull. Would probably cause confusion though and other effects due tot that's an attack no one has done before.
