Plot Summary: The title is a shortening of the club's official name, Gendai Shikaku Bunka Kenkyūkai (現代視覚文化研究会), or "The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture" Genshiken follows the lives of a group of college students drawn together by their shared hobbies, and the trials and adventures associated with being otaku. Rather than focusing on one particular hobby, the club is mixes together the love of games, anime, manga, cosplay, and plamo.

Join Kanji Sasahara in his college life as he comes into terms with being otaku and making his way out of his shy little world into the open. This anime shows the lifestyles different types of otaku and how they cope with their everyday lives. The story also turns focus to Kasukabe Saki, a non-otaku who hates all things otaku but is going out with one. As the story progresses, see how she copes up with dealing with the otaku lifestyle.

Also, take note: This anime will have tons of references to other anime as well. Especially Kujibiki Unbalance.

IMO (fox's view on the anime): one of the best slice of life animes out there.. a definite must watch.. really gives ya an in depth look on the lifestyle.. X3
