Aaaaaaah, it's really fascinating to hear that actually since this isn't the first time I've heard of the megas evoking memories of nightmares that people had when they were younger. I hope that doesn't put them in a bad place for you since their intentions are genuinely good! If it helps, they most likely will leave you be if you're genuinely afraid of them.
Unfortunately, this is where things get a little nebulous. The best way to put it is that the megas simply wish to make you happy! It's unknown why they're so keen on making you happy, or really, how they know what makes you happy in the first place (since they always tend to pick forms you're familiar with). I'd like to think that perhaps they just draw some sort of joy from it themselves, but in the end, the reasoning behind their intentions is as unknowable as the megas themselves!
It seems abundantly clear that whatever is fueling their intentions is good at the very least!
