Here's something that I can never figure out about drawing, and I am afraid to bring up to other artists because it sounds like I am "barbecuing the scared cows" when it's just something that doesn't work for me.
But no matter how much I "study reality" it never really clicks with me, I get so frustrated because nearly every art channel preaches this as a holy mantra. I actually learn more from watching other artists just drawing, I see something that some how "clicks" when I learn a technique or a trick from them.
I guess the thing is it's like cooking, like I can sit and stare at chicken Gyoza but I will never learn how it is made, even if I break one open and study the ingredients but I will not understand HOW it's made all I would know what it looks on the inside.
But if I find a recipe, learn the step and even watch another cook I understand on how it all works, and even take what I learn for other meals.
Too bad it feels like others just sit there, eyes glued to a massive cake and shouting about how they "understand everything" and it is "the best method, ever!"

Art is subjective. Mistakes are just part of the package. Much like how your typical enthusiast will try to take a message away from a piece, the actual person, from your painting progeny to your goofy loner cartoonist and amateur illustrator, to literally anyone from Deviantart, Furaffinity, and hell, even Fanartcentral, develops their own style through experimentation and exaggeration of the things and people around them.
Never give up, I have been where you are. (And probably still am, lol.)
