Bantams Newest Additions - Donell Macon and L.V. McDyess!
On January 18th, two of the worst teams in the FBA, the Bradford Bantams and the Santa Ana Spectrums, decided that their seasons were going nowhere and that a major personnel change was in order.
The Spectrums were 4-24 and the Bantams were 4-26 at the time, and while the 8th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Donell Macon (Tiger, C, shown on the right) was performing well, as well as L.V. McDyess (Black Panther, SG, shown on the left) the team was simply not competing with the rest of the league. Meanwhile, the Bantams, with 13 year vet Karl Gruber, whom T. Matt proclaimed the 2nd best PF in the entire league, were underachieving as well. It was apparent that even though both teams had some talent, things simply weren't clicking.
Then the Bantams management figured out a brilliant plan. Pair Donell Macon with Desmond Macon, Donell's brother who had been drafted a few spots ahead of him in the 2009 draft. The two knew each other's playing styles like no one else did, and they were sure to bring out the best in each other's pro game as well. The Bantams also lacked any sort of dependable backcourt scoring option, so getting the Spectrums best player, L.V. McDyess, was desired as well. Gruber was a wonderful player, but he had been toiling away for a few years in Bantamville, and the team never made much progress. So they decided to give the All-Star cougar forward a fresh start in Santa Ana, and to make things even, they gave the Spectrums Telki Holland and their first round draft pick in 2010 in exchange for Santa Ana's second round pick. In doing that, the Bantams brought in a young big man with superb defense and athleticism and a wing who could get buckets on any given night, and both younger than 22.
Since then, both teams have been performing much better. The Spectrums are 7-10 since the trade (much higher winning percentage than they had before) and the Bantams are 10-8. And the Spectrums will be even better next year, when they get a likely two high draft picks to go along with Gruber, Pink, and Bados. Both teams are very happy with the results of their transaction and look to improve even more in the future.

They aren't the worst teams! They just have two of the worst records, is all! The Bantams are a very young team that has the special challenge of being based across the Atlantic. And the Spectrums have a disinterested owner who really just wants a nice stadium to show off to his Furrywood clients. So, it's tough for both teams-- but it's really good to see them working together to try to improve each other!
This is probably going to go down as one of the best trades of the 09-10 season. And might I say, I love the looks on their faces in this picture. Kinda says something about their personalities, I think.

That's true, even though the teams have a bad record, they aren't bad per se. The Rapids last year and the Rabble before this year, they were actually bad, hehe. But still, all teams in the FBA have the ability to be really good on any given night. They just have to put it all together. ^^
Thanks, that makes me feel good that this trade is working out so well! And to think, I tried doing like 5 trades in my fantasy leagues right before that and nobody would accept, so seeing this work out makes me extra happy. ;)
Glad you like the looks on their faces! It was almost an afterthought since I was designing JERSEYS so you know I wanted to make those look good. ^^ But Donell is just happy to help any team and very optimistic, and L.V. is probably thinking "They're gonna love my game." Hehe!

In the NBA, it used to be when players had the same last name and first initial, they would include the second initial of the first name to differentiate. If that was the same, they'd include the third, and so on.
Nowadays, I guess they feel it's not worth it, and the fans will figure it out, hehe. I think it's obnoxious to have something like "Do. Macon" on the back of the jersey, so they will both just say "Macon". ^^

Jt on another not I will be shooting you some stats on the Lapin St team because a few will be in this coming draft.
