[CU]Overview
Often thought of as the outcome of a bumble bee and a fruit fly having a wild night, most bibbins are associated with the clunky, fuzzy balls of fluff found buzzing through garden and flower fields. They are the most prolific pollinators in Evenscerna and while generally coming in the standard black and yellow color scheme as bees, most bibbins sport splashes of color and intriguing patterns reminiscent of flowers.
Because of their bulky fluff, most gives only have 10,000-40,000 bibbins apiece, and they hibernate through deep winter and awaken only after Deadwash ends.
[CU]Drones
The epitome of bibbins in the minds of the average folk. About the size of a fingernail or knuckle (1.5-2 cm long), bibbin drones are totally harmless and have no stingers; they fly around like wobbly balls of cotton and make a soft hum as they go, sometimes being eaten by predators but otherwise doing little else save for move pollen and collect nectar for honey.
They are drawn to sweet scents and often hitch rides on bags or in hair when they’re out, and bump into things when they fly. Many folk can bat a bibbin drone out of the way and the bibbin will fair perfectly well, being rather shock absorbent and sturdy from bumping into everything they can.
The real danger comes from hurting a bibbin without killing it outright, or otherwise causing it distress. While they have no real defenses of their own, being the disposable drones of the hive, they do have pheromones they release for various purposes such as “this place good”, “no more flowers” and such for other of their hive, which are generally odorless to most. If there is a light bitter scent when handling a drone, one that may leave a taste like bitter, over steeped tea in the back of the throat, that is an indication of stress or injury and a very good reason to run.
