They look more like lotus pods to me, and that's way worse. Not gonna lie, I'm kinda creeped out by lotus pods.

i find them attractively alien rather then disturbing at all.
but then i LOVE strangeness. not all strangeness at all times maybe.
but certainly the as much of it as is as benign as is as much of it that is familiar.
i don't love the names though, just as i don't love the names people and beliefs give to spirit things either.

hmmmm interesting. Then do you think these are spirit things per se? or some other kind of creature status that is above naming their young? what are your thoughts?
personally I gave them names because they are children and parents sometimes have the bad habit of giving their child a supposedly 'special' name in the hopes that this will help them become a more interesting person. with monsters It amuses me to think they do the opposite, giving them a mostly plain first name but for almost the exact same reason (ooooh I'll name my kid Apple no one has ever thought of that!/ooooh I'll name my 24th hatchling Joe no one has ever thought of that!). It amuses me.

Wow, you're really rocking that digital pencil tool! The subtle colours and uhh... 'subtle' names give their lush forms some extra texture too! Monster catalogs are quite popular these days, you should think about doing a little pastel colour flier book for cons and such!
