Sir John Myers, an archeologist exploring the underground tomb complex in Lower Egypt has discovered a particular artifact that houses Apep, the primordial antithesis of Ra.
The god attempted to transform John into his submissive drone body, fortunately he’s still too weak after such a long time being sealed that the archeologist managed to not only wrest control from the Apep, but it’s the god of Chaos himsssself who hasssss been turned into a drone inssssstead.
Now possesssssing the power of Apep himssssself, maybe John can ssssstop ssssspeaking like thissssss. And there are also some left over business that required to be taken care off, like those bodyguards that need some punishment for not realizing their client wandering into the tomb alone, perhaps being transformed into Chaos Serpent Spawn will teach them some lessons about responsibilities.

Interesssssting :}===<
Apep, as a sort of venom-ish symbiote, eh? Pretty cool. That shell he's emerging from, is that just the artifact that housed him? At first glance, I had thought it was some kind of snail-shell situation, meaning he was permanently bonded to it, only able to extend out a certain distance.

Hmmmm I was thinking that he’s emerging from an egg after being converted/transformed, but the idea that he is stuck to it is kinda more interesting now that I think about it, so now he waits in the ruin waiting for some (un)fortunate scavengers to stumble upon so he can turn them into his serpentine drones ~
Oh! I've caused the canon to be changed, cool. :}
Powerful characters that are stuck in place can be fun, because they need to enslave more people to do all their bidding / tasks. Perhaps, at least, he can gain more mass to grow that body to the point where it can extend throughout much of the ruins complex, even if he can never leave it, he could still stalk around within there, preying on 'visitors'

Oh, there is a ttrpg that I read where the former creators of the world are now imprisoned for all eternity and bound by oaths to never leave their cell which is also their own bodies (since lots of them take the form of living geographic features like city and desert), so they plan to corrupt world into their body which kinda still fulfill the letter of the oath since they technically didn’t leave their prison cell.
Our naga idea kinda reminds me of that plan 👁️

I suppose if he's bound to his shell and the ruins around it, he would want to increase the ruins.. which would mean getting more followers and then having them build more stuff around the ruins.. but then to leave it for years, so it falls into ruin, too? Thereby expanding 'the ruins'
Ah I’m mostly reminds of that plot when seeing your idea XD
The whole “Bound to the Land” probably isn’t necessary since it sounds quite constricting to build a horny scenario around, I think him letting his corrupted adventurers out in the world to find a way to free him/break the seal would be quite sufficient.
Though I wonder if the adventurers should be mindless drone that he controls, or just being hypnotized into being his loyal servant.
