Zee-Zee has been learning his letters, and he remembers what most of them look like and sound like now! And look how clever he is! Daddy's got a real grown-up book, with no pictures to give him a clue, and Zee-Zee read a word all by himself! d - o - g spells dog!
(Of course, when you're thinking really hard and being super amazingly clever, you can't always remember other things like not going pee-pee in your pants... and the excitement of realising that he'd read the word 'dog' was accompanied by a real flood in Zee-Zee's pull-up, but that's okay! Daddy's still so proud of him! ^.^)
Thanks to
Jimmy Wuffster for saying on Twitter he wanted to see more daddy scenes! It made me think of this right away! ^.^

This is truly a 'Slice Of Life' moment. A little accident amidst an accomplishment is certainly nothing to worry over.
As a father, I've seen my son do a number of knucklehead things. He worries that I'll be upset with him when he does but I try to focus on him notetaking away from his accomplishments while ensuring he learns from the not-so-good life choice.
What I have done a lot with Daft Chicken is, when he does make a mistake, come up with a "Dear Princess Celestia:" letter. Framing it that way does seem to bother him, but it helps to prevent him from going on a lot of negative statements about himself. :)
I've been surprised as, in the past week, he is really valuing me as his father. The surprise part is he is 13 and this is typically when mum and dad become sidelined.
However, back to the pic, it reminds me of how exciting it is to be the father and seeing your child grow while feeling accomplished. Sure there are little 'bumps in the road' but that is not as important as noticing that next step up the ladder in which makes your lil' guy his own person. :)
