My Eyne Have Seen The Glory - a Thursday Prompt
My many thanks to
apron55 for the use of his art in this story. When I find something like this that gives me inspiration, I am quick to seize upon the moment. Having generous artists at times like this is very fortunate for me.

So you know, this weeks prompt was 'eyne' which is the old form plural for 'eye'.
Enjoy...

My eyene has seen a burning body fall from 40,000 feet,
He clawed the air, he kicked his feet, my god! It was so neat!
The chute wrapped’round his body, the the cord around his feet
And he’ll never fly home again.
Glory, glory what a hell uva way to die
Glory, glory what a hell uva way to die
Glory, glory what a hell uva way to die
And he’ll never fly home again!!
-fight song of the RCAF ‘snowbirds’

This was a very intriguing tale. I quite like the way you opened with a rather small scale, before it pulls back widens as the Eyne enter the picture.
What also bears mention is how you kept Red and Blue's species and appearance largely to the imagination - giving just enough hints to let the mind fill in the rest. I found myself visualizing them either as foxes or jackals, interestingly enough.
The best way I can sum this story up, is that it feels like we've entered the climax of story that had begun before the first word had even been written, and very well may still be playing out after the last.
*Catches sight of the red button*
Tempting, but I've read enough sci-fi to know how that scenario usually ends. *winks*
