A stream commission from
liillin of my newer character Amara!
Speaking off-hand, I have ideas of where I can take Amara, but it has proven harder than initially expected. I guess I'll need to find some inspiration for her beyond her initial love of books...or those books can lead her imagination to weird places. I dunno, but it took me a while to get this pic uploaded in part because of it. I guess I need more drive or characters around her. Who should she encounter? :P

"Amara, how are we doing with the McDulan report?"
For the third time in as many hours, the bear stood at her cubicle with his arms crossed and foot tapping. Inside the cubicle was a miniature city built with stacks of paperwork, all enveloping much of the furniture. One alcove of the paperwork city had been established, and there sat a rapidly-typing cow, eyes set on the computer monitor, a complete 180 away from the bear himself.
"Nearly there. I was not aware they needed it for today. I'll have it out in the next hour,"
"Okay, Amara. If you need help, I can have Clemence help you out. No need to rush it all yourself,"
"No, that's fine. I appreciate the offer, but this was on my queue, and I will own up to it. But I will let Clemence know if I need anything done."
A soft unseen nod ended the conversation as the bear made is way back to his office. The cowgirl felt so tense, her muscles pulsing and her heart racing. She felt like she was constantly falling behind, and these last few projects were not helping her in the slightest. Maybe she should have stayed back home on the farm where life moved at one tenth the speed. Sure, the internet was bad, and there were few places to go, but in the city, it felt like she had all the places to go to and none of the time to use to go there. Even that weekend she had to pass up a trip to the museum to work on a project that was not even supposed to be on the queue until next month.
Amara grunted and moved into the next page, then the next. Her eyes scanned each data point, crossing her T's and dotting those I's. Everything was in order. Hours of constant work and two whole cups of coffee. She was ready.

The cowgirl slumped back in her chair. Did she even have breakfast today, she thought. The time had nearly crossed noon, and she came to realize her morning was spent nearly against the computer screen. She stood up and walked back over to the coffee machine for another cup. Knowing her luck, another company was going to call for assistance, and with that, her afternoon would be as full as the morning before it. She could hear some discussion from her co-workers, but she was not focused on them at the moment. She had other ideas in mind. She was thinking about St. Greatwood and the Stolen Scepter, the latest story in her pile of books to read. At least she had something to look forward to after work.
Hours later, Amara nearly kicked down her apartment door and threw her purse and bags on the table beside the entrance. She had gotten so used to the action such that she was mostly successful at landing all bags on the table and not the floor. Thankfully today was a successful toss, and so the cowgirl was able to close and lock the door before sauntering in with little care. In one fell swoop, the cowgirl grabbed her copy of the delicious mystery - softcover but still in solid condition for an older novel - and rested on the plush carpet and cushions in the living room.
"Now, what do we have in store for St. Greatwood this time?" she mused openly as she brought a warm cup of coffee beside her. She opened the book and found her places, taking in a deep breath as the stress of her day job rushed away, replaced by the visual imagery of the tall, mysterious dog detective as he scavenged the museum for clues. The Scepter and much more had been stolen, but where she left off, the cowgirl knew someone had figured out something special about the Scepter...something that could take down the whole city!
Amara gently swooned where she sat and continued to read. Perhaps she should order dinner, then...this book was going to have ALL her attention that night! Her and the delightful detective!
