The original is not working. This version is sponsored by Nici's silently supportive partner. Rock on.
Well well well.
It has actually been years since I recorded any of my own songs. This the first in such along time.
I am so nervous about posting it.
I agonized over this; but I finally stopped changing the vocals. I felt all of it sounded less than my best and I was driving myself mad doing it, and I had to just stop.
So, this was written back in 2005 (according to when I saved the draft of it anyway) and I always wanted to do something with it, I think it's a pretty song.
Because I am pretty sure people will ask (they usually do):
- Yes, I wrote this myself.
- Yes, I played the guitar.
- Yes, the backing vocals are all me.
- Yes, the main melody is me singing.
I am still not happy with this but like I said I have to leave it alone now.
LYRICS:
Supposedly I have to say "I'm Sorry"
But what if I don't think I really am?
Supposedly you said those things to hurt me
Oh, I don't understand
If you really didnt mean it
I have to know
If we have another day
Sometimes you have to let go
And be there another way
Supposedly we have to walk away from
The words that cut us deep inside our heart
Supposedly it's easier to forget them
If we are both apart
If I really didn't mean it
You'd need to know
Somehow that I want to stay
Sometimes you have to let go
and be there another way.
(Supposedly I gave you nothing and you gave me everything...
Supposedly I gave you me...
I gave you everything.)
The song is about a relationship that just won't work no matter what is done, and both people have to accept they have to be there for each other as friends.
THANK YOU for listening and reading.

Was about to download the other to just see might have been wrong with it, like missing extension or something. But yay for more Lilyness singing ^_^ Beautiful voice and lovely song. ^^
Though, one common trend I realize, you don't seem fully happy with what you finished. Then again, I can relate with certain things I do, guess it just the "evils" of perfectionism. No evils of perfectionism for you *poke pokes* Hehe, will say it again, lovely and beautiful voice -^^-

Well, I was thinking about this this morning when I first read your opinion, and to be honest all my songs are different in this sense. I never really finished writing this back in 2005, I did a draft which was improvised on the spot and is longer than this. In fact I planned a chorus and verse and a variation for this, but in the end I felt it was too much so I cut it off at the end as you can hear. I disagree about the section thing, so many songs have two sections or more than 3, it's just a personal thing in my opinion and I could have added another bridge type part in but decided against it. Sometimes my short songs are short because I prefer them to be more of an impact or simpler. Sometimes you can overdo it. I just felt for this song it was overdone if I added any more to it. I am leaving this alone now because I don't want to go back to it over and over. Thanks for your input though, but sometimes using such a formula isn't necessary to me.
Thank you Meachy, very much XD I'm really happy it sounds professional enough. I am so glad I bought my new microphone as it really has enhanced things a lot :D Thank you <3 I want to record a lot of my own songs again, I just find it so stressful in this situation I am living in. I get little peace and quiet to record. :/ But anyways, I will do it sometime, just slowly XD
As always, I loved listening to this. You are like most artists being overly-critical of really good work, just because you see it from conception to end, and with all the struggles along the way. Trust me when I say this is better than a lot of the crap that befouls the airwaves today, and I wish that the rest of the world could hear your talented voice.

I like your music, you've got all those wonderfully arranged extra parts, which fit with each other perfectly and add your angelic voice, just beautiful.
though I do sort of see why you're not totally happy with it, and it's not for the lack of sections, but look, I know that you can't always make something great each time (especially for yourself to consider it so)
But I do like this quite a bit, keep your music coming!

I think the issue was I recorded it so many times and got so frustrated, my vocals got tired. I am still going to try to sing it sometime, I just need a break XD !
Thank you :) I know I am not as skilled as you when it comes to playing the guitar. I am really pleased you listened, it is an honour to receive a comment/compliment from you as well so thank you very very much!! c:

Could be, for me it's slightly different, re-writing the notes so many times I just give up! Well, do things in your own time, after-all you don't owe anyone (or almost anyone) here anything. Just have fun singing, writing or drawing, right?
It was my pleasure! But look here, chin up, your guitar playing is very good, and the way you played here fits well with this song, if the part was any more virtuostic it would take the balance of the music away, plus any-thing's possible with time (or so I've found out). I try and make the guitar sound as wide as it can, to try and emulate a whole band, but that's never needed in anything but solo work, so you really can't compare how I play to how you play, as they're two different styles, I really suck at playing any sort of more modern non-classical (counting avant-garde as classical here!) styles of playing.

:3 you're really kind. I can't read music, so it's hard for me to listen to a complicated classical piece and try to copy it. I used to be so much better at finger picking too, I have picked up a really really terrible habit. I use thumb and index finger only for all the strings!! I never used to, I used to be really good at finger picking and very precise and timed well. I have been trying to train myself again but I slip all the time!! I understand what you mean about this particular song, the guitar isn't the focus and the vocals are the most important I think (sort of).
Your comments make me a little more encouraged to work harder though, so thank you. x

You're welcome, and if you want some good pieces to help you out on using your other fingers, I have quite a collection of pieces (which aren't designed for this purpose) that can't be played without using your fingers correctly (not that they're difficult pieces)
Really, just note me with your e-mail (don't worry I won't go spreading it around!) and I'll send you some conversion tables to help you read music right from the staves, and that book of pieces (they're very relaxing to play!)
