"There are those who hunt to survive, and those who hunt for sport. Survival by the blood of others is the way of nature, but there are many in this world who seek out beauty to destroy it, simply in the name of entertainment. I watched them go out time and again in my youth, bringing back their spoils and celebrating. Certainly, there was survival; Many used the creatures they hunted for sustenance and protection. But many hunted merely because they enjoyed it, killing merely to kill. But it wasn't until my own trip to the wilds that I truly realized the evil in the act. Finding a young wyvern hiding in the trees, wounded and afraid for his life, too weak from bleeding to resist my approach... It opened my eyes and forced the question: Who was truly the monster in this encounter? And that day... The hunters became the hunted."

Well, Skye is at it again, this time slipping into the universe of MHW! And boy, what a turn she took when she got there.
You see, as ruthless as she can be toward other people when she needs to be, Skye has a well of compassion and love in her heart that extends not only toward people, but to animals. I suppose it's a duality of her nature, both hating harm and being so capable of inflicting it, but it is one based on whether the pain is right or wrong, justified or cruel. And she sees a lot of both in the world she's just gotten herself into. In-world, her turning point was finding a young Tobi-Kadachi while she explored the wilderness, one that had fled another hunt and was seriously hurt. Seeing the pain and fear in its eyes, her heart absolutely broke, and she decided right there to spend her days fixing the hurt that others dealt. It started by nursing the wyvern back to health, and forming a strong bond with her as she did. From there, they set off into the world to make their own way, and she began an ambitious operation.
Nowadays, Skye runs a hidden sanctuary, a place where wounded and scared monsters can be brought to recover. They can heal and return to the wild, or if they're too hurt or disfigured she gives them a forever home. She cares for creatures that have escaped hunts, but also frees those she finds who were injured and captured. And while she's no monster whisperer and has to make certain accommodations in the sanctuary, she does her best to teach them to get along with others. At least, the ones who end up living with her forever.
Her other main activity is going on hunts of her own along with her companion. Oftentimes it's to gather what food and supplies they need to keep the sanctuary running, but sometimes... They set out to find the people who have hurt her wards, be they sport hunters or cruel captors. They hunt the hunters, learning about them and finding the best way to remove the threat they pose. She's been open to teaching the young and naive, showing them the hurt they cause and making them learn responsibility. But those who are needlessly cruel or unrepentant receive no mercy. Their best use is as a warning to any who would bring suffering to the world.
And that's what we see here. A fearsome, beautiful duo of Basilisk and Tobi-Kadachi stalking through the trees, making ready to deliver electrifying justice to some unfortunate hunters who have crossed her lines.
Oops, I accidentally AU'd after being inspired a beautiful and incredible artwork! XD
Can you blame me though? This is seriously gorgeous! Both of these reptiles look simply stunning, fantastic forms rendered in vivid color! It's honestly hard for me to say whether Skye or Tobi is sexier, both of them have such great definition to their bodies. Sleek scales and toned muscles, awesome and interesting poses, graceful lines... I'm just so darned happy to see these two lightning lizards together! And the that background! A stunning painted forest that just pulls me right in! It's got such a great energy to it, and just looking at the scene gives a feeling that something big is about to happen~
Honestly, this looks like an illustration right out of a storybook, it's just so beautiful and says so much. <3
A big, huge thank you to the artist for this one! I'm very grateful both for being allowed to insert my girl into their MHW project and for all the work that went into this scene despite the real-life workload surrounding it. I'm just unendingly happy with it, and it's more than well worth the wait! Thank you so much!

Ohh, that sounds really awesome! I have to admit, MHW is the only one I really know anything about, mostly from watching playthroughs. I hear that several other entries in the series are both really awesome and less controversial, which is pretty great. I'll have to check out Stories! =3
