At first, when Zery just got on the White Dragon’s estate, her scar on her chest hurt a lot after transformation, and Maru, who at that time was a servant, looked after the young lady. Zery was often silent and only cried from pain or her inner feelings. It fascinated the Shadow. Each time being with the young Zery, Maru had tender feelings for the girl.
