Greetings everyone, I have another fantastic piece made by
Seyumei, once again made with the aid of some references by another talented artist who's been a great help lately.
This piece took a bit longer to be completed as there were a lot of characters and different things going on all at once,
Seyumei did a wonderful job with all the colors, details, adjustments/edits, as well as helping the guards look somewhat different to each other. (Some of the variants in this picture I'm going to try and use again in the future).
This concept art depicts a scene around the middle of the animation after Griggs retroactively bans the "Salvage for Resource" trade, once he learns that it is being used by bandits to launder stolen salvage and turn the profits into more guns/supplies for them to raid the civilians of Korsun. In particular he's seen here raiding one of their front businesses to search for evidence after discovering a tool with this company's logo embossed on it on a fleeing suspect.
In the animation it probably would use closer shots of different parts of this scene, the three mechanics chatting, then the A.P.C. (The big armored vehicle) pulling up, then the garrison troopers arriving, finally the one mechanic trying to close the truck door to hide evidence being stopped by Griggs who arrived shortly before the garrison to approach more subtly. This picture just gives me a nice reference for all those things at once.
I'm probably going to try and avoid large pictures like this in the future though, it took quite a bit longer to complete it and there were a lot more edits just because of all the things that had to be fixed/adjusted;
Seyumei did a fantastic job throughout of course, but I think on this one I was maybe a bit over ambitious.
Anyway, please let me know what you guys think of this image; how many details can you spot here and what do you think of the information being presented. Also what does everyone think of the new garrison uniform? What does it remind you of? (Hint the vehicle should be a dead give away, its not random).
Thanks everyone! I hope you enjoy the concept art!

Hey, I just knew about the project and saw all your images.
I like this image. I think It's very well drawn, the style of the characters is nice and their design seems clear.
The three guys in green seem to be on trouble with that inspector and all the soldiers sorrounding them. That's what I get of the image in a short look.
About the soldiers uniform, I love it! I saw the old one and I like this uniform more. I think it makes them look tougher or more like authorities, also those wolves wear it very well (I love the boots and the helmets you put on them)
I'd like to know more about the story of the project.
Also, I read that Vaergas and Griggs are antagonists, so the soldiers in general are enemies of the protagonists who may fight or chase them?

Hello, and thank you for being so interested in my project; I'm glad you like it so much.
Indeed,
Seyumei did a really great job on this one, there was also some reference work done by
Dolphiana; so everything that turned out great visually is thanks to those two fantastic artists.
Yeah the three guys in green are basically bandits who work a cover job as mechanics; the auto shop was being used to launder illegal salvage from the black market to the regular market (so the salvage could be sold for resources on the open market that the bandits could use).
Indeed, I've been slowly updating the visuals of the project and I kinda decided the old look of the Soldiers lacked detail so I had a bit more added; right now they are supposed to resemble what a more modernized soviet union garrison trooper would look like. (The grey wolves are supposed to be a rough equivalent to them, with a few changes by me).
Sure, feel free to ask whatever you'd like. I might have more of the story information on my DA page (under the same name), so feel free to check that out as I might have more current (and more of a selection) of text postings there that detail the story and background a bit better. (Though some things have changed over time).
They used to be antagonists in the first draft of the story; that's back when Brack, Arc, and Xerina were the central focus. Now the story is more between three character groups, Griggs and Vaergas being one of those three groups. Hence that's mostly just old information, though I'm glad you actually looked at the old stuff, hardly anyone does these days.
Thanks for your interest and detailed comment. Feel free to comment on any of my other stuff. Though I'm much more active on DA, so I'll see comments faster over there.
Much appreciated.

Hii, thanks for answering!
The story changed from the early despcriptions... I see. The multiple point of view of different character groups probably make the story more interesting. I'll read the texts I see in your DA that you say then.
So the uniforms are inspired in Soviet Union ones? As I said I think they look great. Yeah, they may lacked detail before, but It's nice you kept the cholor scheme for the new more detailed ones (dark blue and black are in my opinion the best choice in uniforms for police, guards, etc. cause is often related to "authority")
The art style is great, so good job to the artists. I like how even being all (nearly) same colored wolves they don't look like clones. Some look tougher, some look serious and some look kinda cute, like the one in the newest image with Juno/Cassandra xD

Of course (and thank you for asking such a detailed question).
Yeah definitely a bit, I've been working on this project for about six years now; and there have been major changes once I started making major progress on the script that made the story/setting more interesting, or the plot more dynamic. (The Script is done now, has been for a year or two; lately I've just been trying to get more concept art to go with it, and finish up the voice acting, which has been a pretty monumental task so far).
Indeed, partially anyway. Mostly the stars on the helmets, those sash things (which are ponchos), and the diagonal cross strap. Naturally the Soviets didn't have bulletproof armor though, so I modernized certain bits to kinda make it work with a more near future setting.
And yeah I figured blue would be a good color for the faction that considers itself very oriented on legal order, industrial production, and distribution; also the Volterrans (the lions) are red because they are based loosely on the Romans (if they were also more modernized), who had the red color way before the soviets did. The color red also fits the Volterrans better anyway, as they are the more personal ambition focused, militaristic, wealth seeking, and expansionist faction (like Rome was).
Indeed, originally they were going to be exact copies of each other; just some with goggles or face masks; though I later decided that was a bit too lazy and started mixing it up. I like that you noticed that they aren't always serious/gruff looking, and that's on purpose. These guys are supposed to be a far flung frontier garrison, on a planet that's not very important. Hence the garrison receives the recruits that would be considered too untrained/undisciplined for most other postings.
*** Essentially it's a quirk with the setting being Korsun specifically, that the only law and order is a low tier garrison that's barely functional. It's the subject of many of the character Grigg's early difficulties, and I think its a good way to explore the difficulties of inheriting command of a force that needs a lot of improvement and possible reorganization.
*** But yeah the artists did a fantastic job making them all look a little different, mostly without any direct input from me either.
Let me know if you have any other questions or comments and I'd love to answer them.
