It was a simple dare. Stay inside the old, broken down house in the woods for one night. Alone.
People say they can hear screams coming from the house at night, but you didn't believe in any of those silly ghost stories. The house was creepy, sure, but a good flashlight and some distracting white noise would drown out any of that. This would be easy.
The night started out easy enough. The house was bigger than you thought, so you figured some exploring would keep your thoughts from escaping you. What you found was what you would expect from a rundown and abandoned home, down to dusty broken furniture and disheveled living spaces. You also frequently came across some dark substance scattered around the premises. Assuming it some kind of mold, you steered clear.
Hours passed and you've found yourself cooped up in what appeared to be the "coziest" room in the house, which wasn't saying much with what was left of it. You're minding your own business, counting the minutes, when the sound of creaking wood itches at your ear. You weren't moving. You shrug and and chalk it up to some wild animal, nothing to worry about... until something warm and viscous drips on your shoulder and a deep snarl fills the air. You jump to your feet and swing around, shakily holding your flashlight up toward the source of the sound.
You barely have time to scream as something large, black, and menacing lunges toward you from the ceiling.
HEY this was supposed to be a Halloween commission but I procrastinated again because I wanted to write a little blurb for this tooooo. FINALLY
But GOSH I had been trying to commission something like this for a long time! I love cryptid photos and creepy images and the like and I had been trying to find artists to draw in that sort of style for a while now. RJ absolutely KILLED it! I love this composition so much! The scene is awesome, the lighting reflecting off the eyes is perfect, and the painterly style really sells the whole location. Plus I really like the additional eyes in the background. Spooky stuff!
