So a big part of the fandom loved my HC popularized by nrrdiarts in which Mystics have a pouch in which they keep their Urlings
Now here is a new hot take :
Skeksis keep their Skeklings in their feathers if they have enough
While Urlings generally stay in the mother's pouch more than the father because they can nurse while being kept warm, Skeklings generally spend more time in the father's fluff since it rarely reaches the teats anyway. That allows bonding with both parents in a way, as long as the father has enough feathers of course ; it's good when both parents do
The Skekling grip on the feathers tightly like lil baby monkeys and burry themselves in them, often only the head peeking out but sometimes not even the head is seen. Out of instinct, they keep holding on tight even when sleeping, that's how the parents see if the baby is healthy. The parents see when the baby is getting too big from the moment it doesn't hide completely in the fluff anymore and more importantly : tear off the feathers under their weight. Ouch for both the parent who loses feathers and the baby who falls down ; don't worry their little bones are very strong
Young SkekUng as a particulary example of fluffy father, being the canon Skeksis I HC as the fluffiest : he was fluffy and broadchested enough for his twins SkekSsaz and SkekNetk who loved his warmth while the mother SkekSil has almost no feathers in contrast ; he is quite jealous that they prefer their father for warmth but at least only he can nurse them so they always end up coming back to him
