INT. POLICE TRUCK - NIGHT
Nick is driving the vehicle, looking side eyed at Will, who faces at the side window away from Nick.
Nick opens his mouth in attempt to say something to Will.
NICK
So, (pause) wasn't the chief scary?
Nick looks at Will for a reaction. Will is still looking out at the window.
NICK
(mocking Chief Bogo's voice) Wilde, if I catch this child in alleyways playing with knives again, yada yada yada, I'll resign you to parking duty.
Nick looks at Will again. Will pays no attention.
NICK
(in normal voice) Listen- I know how hard you life is recently. I was- into more trouble when I was just about your age.
Will's expression slightly changes, his eyes looks at Nick before looking out the window again.
NICK
I had difficulty in school too, you know. And it's not the grades- oh no, it's the-
WILL
Bullying?
Nick looks at Will. Slightly surprised hearing him talked for today.
NICK
Well... yeah. That and other stuff.
Will still faces out the window.
WILL
Were you caught playing with knives?
NICK
No. I was caught selling stolen snacks. (pause) Outside of school!
Nick grins as Will looks at Nick.
NICK
And the best part... I was never caught.
Will looks back at the window.
WILL
Except that I was. By one of your friends at work, more or less.
Nick's grin disappears.
NICK
Hey. They only bought you in because they're worried about you. Yeah- and they sure are scary. But, deep down, they are good people.
WILL
What about Mom?
Nick's eyes widened and his mouth hangs open.
WILL
What would she say if she was here?
Nick closes his mouth and shakes his head. Nicks looks at Will. His expression of discomfort.
NICK
She- she'd be angry of course. But (pause) she'd be relieved that you're okay.
Will looks at Nick. Now facing at the front of the passenger's seat where the two can look each other.
NICK
Remember that swimming trip back then?
Will nods.
NICK
She was so scared and worried that you might have been in danger. When we found you lost and alone, crying holding Elly in your arms, she was relieved that you're alright. Which is kinda funny, since well, she's the best cop in the ZPD.
Will side eyes at Nick.
WILL
So, she's more scared about me than the dangerous criminals she's capturing?
NICK
You can say that. That's because, she cares more about us than anything in the world.
WILL
Then why?
Nick looks at Will in confusion and worry.
WILL
Why did she left?
Will asks, holding back anger.
NICK
She- she just needs a break. That's all. Turns out being a cop and a parent wasn't as easy as she thinks. Believe me, I thought so too.
Both Nick and Will face the windshield.
WILL
Will she come back?
NICK
She just needs time. And when it's time for her to come back, I promised you.
Nick looks at Will with a smile.
NICK
We'll see her together.
Will looks back at Nick with an assuring smile.
Both faces back at the windshield.
EXT. NICK AND WILL'S APARTMENT

Okay so. I've been seeing these scripts to screen vids and thought these are cool and wanted to try it out writing one. And it's total shit and i wanna die.
And yeah, the snipet above is part of my Zootopia fan kid story headcanon thingy. And when i mean by 'part of a story' i meant that's literally all i have that i can think of for a story. But, the gist of it is that Nick and Judy got married and have a hybrid babu called Will, Judy left, Nick is left to take care of Will until Judy comes back, Will gets into angsty pre-teen because of hybrid child of cop parents shenanigans, and that's where i workshop it.
Also, i haven't done my art like this in a very loooong while. I miss these thin ass lines. They're kinda time consuming tho. Thankfully, i can just add the shadows with a colorless variant of the art by shading it with grey and overlaying it on top instead of mixing this color with black. It's a total life saver, making me finishing this piece unedited in just about 1 and a half to 2 hours to finish instead of my usual 3 and extra.

All you can do is make a start and build things up from there. Some people can start at the beginning and keep going right through to the end, but others need a more piecemeal approach. This is a good start and and interesting dynamic.(I'm burningly curious as to WHY Judy left and where she went. The relationship dynamics must be something else.)
