Here is a close up of Empire River & Western's #3 "Meteor". I personaly always liked shots on the "Engineer's Side" of the locomotive.
"Meteor" is one of a few Project Locomotives I have. Originaly it was colored with a green boiler with red cab, pilot/cow catcher, pistons, and tender. Too gaudy for my tastes, so I repainted her. Yep, she's been custom painted by yours truely! Paint wise, she's not quite finished yet. Was low on black paint so I couldn't paint the pilot or domes. Still needs to be remotored and DCC Sound installed, along with a new headlight and lens.

Chances are that it is. The model is based on the Sierra Railroad's #3, a 4-6-0 build in 1891 and has been used in COUNTLESS movies and TV shows.
like Pettycoat Junction, The Wild Wild West, Little House on the Prarie, and Geen Acers. And its been used in many movies. Unforgiven, Back To the Future 3, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, and many more!

Yep, this is a model of the locomotive from that movie. Only I didn't paint mine ALL black.
The engine used in the movie was Sierra Railroad #3, a 4-6-0 "Ten wheeler" class built by the Rogers Locomotive works in 1891. From what I've heard, she'd been recently restored to operational condition and is now operating again for the 2010 season on the Sierra Railroad.

Well, I saw one of these in a antique store dressed in patriotic colors. I wanted it so bad, but I was convinced that painting up was pointless(according to the people around me). I still want one badly so I can do one of these projects(maybe it looked like as it did when it first arrived on the Sierra Railway of like it did in any of it's movie rolls.)
Sierra #3, believe it or not, never had a diamond or balloon stack when in active service. It did, however, had an ornate capped stack and a wood cab. But personally I like the stack it has in my photo here. It has a sense of uniqueness.
This model still needs a LOT of work though. It will be an AWESOME model when finished though!
