Robert was born into a rich family from Hoenn. Robert was raised to inherit his father's company. When he was a child, he and the family moved to Johto, were he started taking private lessons. He befriended Sam and Jenny, and later Casandra as well. One day, Robert and his friends found out that the life they were living, wasn't the life they wanted to live, so they decided to enter the Poke Combat Academy together. After lots of begging and arguing, Robert and his friends convinced their parents to let them enter, if they promised to behave with dignity. They agreed, but did they mean it, no. As soon as they got to the academy, they started acting all wild and crazy, throwing off their suits and dresses, and buying new clothes at the spot. Robert and his friends then formed their own team, named Team Freedom, where Sam became their leader.

Robert is a very kind and smart person. Sometimes, he can be very annoying if he want to. He also tend to drag down other people's pants or skirts. Durning fights, he is one of those guys that tends to stay on their defensive instead of their offensive, using his Twister and Recover moves to defend and heal himself. This strategy works best when his Marvel Scale ability is activated. When he gets the chance, he'll attack with everything he got.
