I was super into Pikmin around July 2019 and made an off-line non-canon traditional art AU of When The Fur Flies after jokingly drawing Ben as Olimar.
...I was REALLY, REALLY into Olimar, okay?
And, Ben's pretty hot, too. So, let's just say I was very Horny on Main then.

Anyway, a constant theme of the game is Olimar getting back home to his family. Same with Ben. Ben REALLY cares about his family. Like INSANELY much. O-O
(Is it because of my lack of social empathy or is the way neurotypical people are with emotions towards other people (especially their families) very alien to me? I don't mean to sound heartless, it's just like... I don't get it? Why do they care about their families so much?! Is it because I'm also depressed and no one seems to like me irl, and IN PARTICULAR, my blood relatives? I mean, like all of them?? Like, my mom's obligated to, and I guess my aunt does? That's literally it. (But, this isn't about me) Seriously, what's up with that? ...I'm getting cancelled for asking that, aren't I?)

Long story short, Di is pregnant again (which is a big deal, due to her fertility issues 😬), and Ben (and his trusty sidekick Pierrot!) are stuck on some random planet. And, he wants to get home to see her And the new baby! And, she's due any moment now! And, the prom's TOMORROW!!!!!1!11!1!!1
(Spoilers: He gets home in time. Phew!)

Benjamin was only supposed to exist in that universe, but I loved him so much, I made him a permanent addition. And, I HATE babies on shows! D:

Maybe it's because he's silent and cute and not a useless plot device made to make everyone's lives horrible! :D

Benjamin's name is a play on Ben Jr., a name everyone and their grandma suggested him to after seeing how much he resembles... him. WTF, none of Di's kids look like her! D:<

He didn't want to be egotistical and name him after himself (essentially robbing him of a unique identity), so Benjamin it is! Or, how Di'd pronounce it: Ben-JA-min.
Di: I vould NOT pronounce it like zhat! I can say BenJamin, just fine! Oh, verdammt it.

Being just a baby, he doesn't show much in the way of emotion or personality, he kinda just stares out at the world around him while sucking on his pacifier (which I didn't draw). His somewhat eerie silence is normal; him crying means something's wrong. He kinda just makes he feel sorry for him with the sad eyebrows and the big eyes...
