Pierce is a cyborg in his human form, and as such given how his arms are both cybernetic has no sense of touch.
He can not feel Vyre with his hands in his human form. A gentle brush down her cheek with the back of one finger does nothing for his own senses, or her grip when they hold hands.

His colossal angelic form however is complete with the limbs he's missing in his human form, which make this the only form he's able to feel her with his own two hands.

Here Pierce is able to feel Vyre for the first time.
He has to be gentle with her due to his size, but it's a rare opportunity he may not be able to take again for a very long time if ever at all.
