Most of you are familiar with the ‘one’ mainstream game I can play on a mobile device. This being Pokémon Go!.
Pokémon Go has a number of benefits to it for a blind traveler, like myself. These include, but are not limited to…
1: Encourages going for longer walks to acquire Poke Stops, battle in gyms, fight in a raid, etc.
2: Keeps up positive energy when walking alone (My Seeing Eye Dog is with me but he tends to just go through the motions when it is just the two of us)
3: Has numerous ‘audio cues’ that can be used to not only tell how you are doing in catching Pokemon but also can be used in conjunction with a blind-friendly navigation app to find where you are at.(Audio cues also tell me if our team owns a gym, needs to win back a gym, if there is a raid in progress, and if I am able to interact through the new ‘Buddy System’)
The only thing I can’t do is work the menus. Usually my son, daft Chicken, goes through to clean out the Pokemon collection so I have room to get more. He also does the gift exchanges, places eggs in the incubator, heals the team, and uses coins earned from putting Pokemon into gyms to buy additional incubators[/i])
It is a shame more games do not utilize audio technology as much as Pokemon Go. Though I do not believe Nyantec, makers of PKMN GO, ever thought to themselves, “Adding a lot of different sounds would allow more than just sighted people to play this game.”.
My son and I started playing right at the time I was on my very last strand of physical eyesight. We’ve since evolved a lot of Pokemon, hatched tons of eggs, put forth a lot of walking towards earning candies to evolve hard-to-catch Pokemon, etc. Our Pokedex, save Legendary and Regional, is 100% complete for Kanto, 99% for Johto, and 95% for Hohen and Sinoa. The Eunova Pokemon are only now being released and, at the moment, my DUCKLETT has yet to arrive. I am eager to have both a DUCKLETT and a Shiny DUCKLETT.
Other fun things is, again with a quick description from my son, I can engage the Buddy’s ‘Adventure Mode’. This powers up your partner Pokemon. Currently we have a FARFETCH’D at maximum friendship and I’m now working on my TOGEKISS.
If anyone would like to add us as a friend, please do. We’re all about sending and sharing gifts. Plus it is fun to see what Pokemon everyone else is adventuring with.

I believe my son noticed it and accepted it. We are under the name of 'E Noodle", which is based on a nickname my son got in soccer. I believe our trainer is wearing a LAPRAS shirt and that TOGEKISS is the Buddy.
Hopefully you've been enjoying the game. I am excited for when my son can compete in the Global League that is getting started. Keeping enough potions on-hand will be tricky, as I like to battle in raids and fight gyms. Though I can keep that activity to a mimimal if it gets my son more interested in working with our team. :)

Great! My son will answer it tomorrow as, right now, he is with his mom and I can't access the menus through accessibility settings.
Are you doing well with your quests? The ones that require 'new friend', or 'new Poke Stop' are some of the roughest. This is also up there with catching a Ditto as, just this evening, I caught my first in over a year.
