It was given as a clothing color ref as a request by the client, literally only the clothing color. We outright refused to duplicate the clothing structure exactly, and we held to that. There was a shirt added, a number of accessories, the boots are ENTIRELY different than the shoes in the ref, the jacket is structured differently, the pants are structured entirely differently and even have a different fit and waist line ... and the character itself isn't at all the same despite sharing species. Even the hair line and structure is different, when Morgrem's hair is the focal point of that particular pokemon design. Furthermore, in respect to being sure not to copy another artist's work, the palette was not directly ripped/color-picked, and instead it was used as inspiration to create a different but related palette that read similarly, to respect the client's wishes. Please see the image attached as a gyazo below, with both palettes side by side and color-pickable. While the difference was not vast, as those were the colors requested and colors are not exclusively owned, particularly with clothing, we were sure to vary almost every single color used. The only one identical between the two is black of the jacket.
