“No!” Kyo cried out, clamping his eyes shut, sweat beading on his face, despite the cold night.
This wasn’t him… or was it?
He pulled himself up straining with every move and nearly doubled over from the intense pain rising in his chest. He bit back an anguished howl and steadied himself on the railing. Purple sparks leapt away with each move. Ashen grey bloomed from each spark and spread rapidly. Obsidian horns burst out of his hair, glimmering an inky blackness in the harsh orange from the overhead lights. Kyo pushed himself away from the railing and balled his hands. They betrayed him snapping open, ebony claws growing from his fingernails. Kyo’s eyes slid from his claws to his shoulders, ears back. Quiet tearing followed as shoulder spikes tore through Kyo’s undershirt and jersey. It was followed by the creeping, hot, tacky sensation of blood being trapped by his undershirt. His shoes didn’t fare any better as ebony growths poked through the material.
He tried to hold back another cry, scrunching his eyes, but it came out as a yell, ending in a demonic roar.
When he looked again to take in his surroundings, his eyes were not blue, but a deep unsettling red.
