Zulfiqar was a sphinx inside the scroll world of Kakkishon. She served as a guardian to the Golden Bowl where the last of the Sand Djinn, the Shaitan, hid from the tyrant Jhavul when they defected from him. Zulfiqar was instructed not to let anyone in, but sphinxes will as sphinxes do, and it had beenso long since she had been able to ask anyone a riddle.

What would one little riddle hurt? She asked Anizhar and Co.

“Many find riddles cliche, but I find them quite delightful. If you would seek my aid or pass beyond, you must answer me this: I build up hills and tear down mountains. I make blind eyes see and make seeing eyes blind. What am I?”

When Deego answered the riddle correctly, she could hardly contain herself in her excitement.

When her Shaitan handler emerged from the ground to tell her to stop fucking around and kill the intruders, Anizhar whispered "Zulfiqar, whatever happens, I would like us to be friends." and she knew then what side she would come down on. She attacked her handler and aided us in the fight against the gargoyles that emerged to fight us.

When the battle was over, Anizhar made her a bag out of glass to hold her hoard of jewels, and asked her to return to the boat house on the island and wait for him to come by when they were done.
