01-22-20 [Pobop: Harvesting Water from the Yustustin Fungi]
Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up snot-rocketing on the patio, and Steven was already out there reading. I went back to sleep, then mum woke me up, but I went back to bed. She woke me up again and I was finally ready to get up, so I roused myself awake and headed inside, where I ate a chonk of breab with some water while everyone picked up the last of the house and got their stuff together. The maid arrived and thanked us for keeping the house so clean.
When I finished I relaxed on the couch until people started heading upstairs I went up there as well and took my bags, and when I went outside I left 154 Oyster Pond Drive forever! I still hung around outside and helped pack bags (I did get to level -9 on Tetris once!) and even when it rained, I still just stayed outside in the wash...It was cool and refreshing and it woke me up.
When everyone was ready to leave I got in the white Haval and followed dad to the airport. Dad lead in the bloo car, and Kim/Daniel, who had rented a red vehicle, followed me. The roads were once more kinda busy, but we managed to get to this bar and grill beside the beach. The roads leading to the parking lots were wedged between the airport fence and the beach, and they were covered in sand. Why? Because this is the famous beach where planes are just a few dozen feet above the beach-goers' heads!
We sat under an awning and ordered some food. Unfortunately it was 10 AM and they only had breakfast, so I had to order a couple pieces of French Toast and 3 pieces of sosag links and a pile of salted grilled potate slices...The French Toast and sosag was a bit meh, and the potates a bit too salty...I'm not much of a breakfast guy! X)
After eating I sat and let my tum settle, then I went to try and find a geo near the fence. Dad went with me and after checking the guard rail and some pipes I was gonna give up (since I didn't wanna make everyone wait), but dad saw this orange thing hanging in the corner of the fence, and yep! The geo was in a bison tube!
I signed the log and then we met with everyone at the diner before walking back to the cars. I got in and headed back the way I'd come...Except I tried going the wrong way in the parking lot because, true to the rest of St. Martin, it lacked any signs and was far too smol. I had to actually have a parking attendant direct me into a blank space then guide me backward before I was able to escape through the casino's parking lot and back onto the road. The lot dumped onto a road that had flooded and so it looked like we were driving right into a river. We passed by the other two car and led the caravan to Alecia and Debbie's hotel, then we dropped them off. John took Debbie's spot up front (his phone had data, 'cause he works for Bezos) and then we headed to the airport (Dad took a wrong turn outta there and we had to correct). We dropped everyone off with the luggage, then I followed dad to the rental place...He took a wrong turn and we wound up circling back around the airport's parking lot before heading to the rental place...Then past it and into town. I figured we were going to the gas station, and yep! We filled up the tank (which the attendant did for me) and then headed back to the rental place.
And you know what? I've never felt more relieved to relinquish my driving capability! XD
Seriously, St. Martin roads have that third-world vibe to them...Too small, badly labeled if labeled at all, road layout that's laughable at best, and all filled with drivers who seem to really wanna reincarnate someplace else...Which is silly because it is a nice island with no human rights issues...Poor, but the area I come from is poor and tight-knit in much the same way, and I love my home area!
The guy up front gave me a lanyard and a pen, then after dad finished the paperwork we took a shuttle back to the airport. We headed inside (AC!) and then after sitting around for a bit, we moved past the security section and into the hangar area to wait. When we settled in I rested my head and took a nodl nap.
I woke up about an hour before our plane departed, and I relaxed for a bit before we decided to move closer to the exit. We waited there and mum and dad left first, then Amber and Levi and I boarded (I was seat 13C). I just left my seatbelt off the whole time since I'm now a Big Nodl and didn't wanna ask for an extender. It was okay since I was so squished in the seat. I watched a 2 part documentary about the BTK killer and then managed to watch the first 1.5 episodes of the 3 part series “The Food that Shaped America”...And holy cow, I never knew the creation of cereal was such a crazy event! That alone was worth its own drama!
We landed and got off the plane, then we had to check in through international customs and while there, Amber said she was sneaking a plant into the country. D'oh! Foolish! If you're going to smuggle stuff, you gotta lie about it!
When we went to get our luggage Amber and Levi eventually came through, followed by an attendant with a baggie...But the luggage containing said plant wasn't there! 7 of the 8 bags were present, but Levi's smol brown one was not! Mum and dad and I eventually left them to sort through that, then took the luggage and put it back on a conveyor that would ship it to the appropriate location. We then had to get in a looooong line to have a person see our passports and our faces, but the line moved quick and we got through pretty quickly.
From there I headed to the food court for some nibbles, and I got a couple slices of cheese pizza from Village Pizza...I wanted something light but filling. While eating mum and dad came and sat beside me and started bitching about me getting a job...And jesus fucking christ, they actually said I needed to go door to door asking for work. I now fully understand the okay boomer meme. Fact is, I've been searching for the past few months, but from what everyone says, they don't hire in the 4th quarter.
I finished my pizza and by this time Levi and Amber had come to join us. We left and headed close to our gate, and while there I saw a statue of a corn fashioned into a plane and a carrot fashioned into a rocket! We sat in front of a BestBuy vending machine and I tried to snooze, but I could not! Around 10:30ish we got ready to board our plane (our attendants were running late, according to an announcement we heard), then when we got on (19D for me!) I watched the rest of episode 2 and half of episode 3 of The Foods that Shaped America. Apparently Colonel Sanders almost killed a man!
We landed and grabbed our bags and all of us were feeling pretty sleepy and bad, but we drug our stuff through the airport and boarded the hotel shuttle, which was right there. A couple pilots boarded with us and we were talking about some nonsense. When we stopped and grabbed our luggage, the driver said he really liked what I said about Chihuahuas being like pissed off crickets...You don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for them, so we do both. We loaded some pieces of luggage into mum and dad's vehicle before we got to Levi's car. We packed our stuff and after stopping at a gas station for a toothbrush for them (they also got me some Mucinex!), we drove off!
In the 2 hour drive I mimicked Alex Jones (which I can do amazingly well when my voice gets sick like it is) and skinwalkers and conspiracy theories! A lot of fun! Despite being a good conversation I was happy to get to their place. We parked and unpacked, and after asking if I could help clean anything (the cats had poobed a lot right behind the door) I took some mucinex and some cough syrup and headed to bed around 2:30ish. So relaxing!
I hope everyone has a arrive-in-the-states day! <333
