01-19-20 [Noodle in Red Duds]
Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up a few times around 9ish...10ish...Then eventually around 11ish. I swear the open sea breeze lets me sleep sooooo well that I was even able to ignore the chatter of everyone! I ate a bowl of cereal, then had a Pebis and went outside. The skies were far more overcast and everyone got together and chatted, then around 1ish Levi and I decided to leave. Keith volunteered, but eh, he's pretty annoying and the roads on the island are already bad enough without such distractions.
This was perhaps a good call, because when we got in the car we first headed down to the French border for a geocache. I pulled off to the side and even tho Levi had his Wheelies, he was able to toe-walk to the pavement. We found the cache in a rock wall beside the border marker, then after taking a photo of the log (I didn't have a pen) and a photo of each of us at the border, we headed to the airport.
This was when the distraction-free ride became important. Apparently Debbie's phone has the propensity to not update its google maps, so as we drove we were only able to see the route, and not a real-time location of where we were. This caused me to have to pull over to the side of road beside a dumpster to try and fix it...But I was only able to update it once...So Levi and I decided to use it like a paper map and he'd give directions.
Pulling out of the spot beside the dumpster was spoopy, and I had to go forward and U-about on a turn-off road...But then we were on our way! During the transit we only made one wrong turn, and it actually caused us to get to the only stoplight I saw on the island...Then I had to do a really brazen turn (which required me to back up) but I was back on the road and the route, and together we navigated to the airport!
When we got there he went to the Duty-Free shop and got some cigars and some energy drinks and he got me a water! After, it was time for us to wait for Kim and Daniel...I had no idea what he looked like, and she looked like every basic white-girl I'd ever seen. No offense to her, but I couldn't pick her out of a lineup if I tried. Even worse, Debbie had only given then our names, and had failed to give even rudimentary descriptions of my appearance (eye patch would have been a real help!). I looked up stores in the meantime and found that Google said they were all closed. I called dad and explained, then I searched Google and found some that were still open. EchoFoods! I then had to use the bathroom and when I got out Levi and I searched Facebook for pics of her...But she looked so normal! He then got a piece of paper and wrote out their last name with a pink marker...Tho it was misspelled (Left out a 'd'...It's an odd spelling of a common last name!).
However while talking this pair turned around and it turns out it was them! Funny enough they were there for a few minutes already, and had checked a facebook message I sent describing our appearance!
I then led them to the car (Apparently they had to pick up a rental tomorrow, but I refused to take them over there for that...Not on the wedding day.) and we got in and I drove to the pay place and Levi got out and paid (almost forgot the ticket!), then we headed out to the supermarket!
I pointed out sites in transit, and soon we got to a smol village. We pulled into a store...But it looked like a warehouse. We went around while Levi waited with the car, but we saw some dogs back there and people who seemed to be working there, then out front we noticed that the big doors were actually the normal main entrance...Also closed!
I thought that sealed the deal, but while driving back home we went on the roundabout near the big Carrefour and it turns out that they were open! I turned about down the road and we parked (toward the back, where there was actually room to maneuver!), then went inside. Luckily Levi found a cart that didn't require a euro to activate, and we were able to do a bit of shopping...Mostly alcohols and snacks, and I also got myself a caramel filled chocolate bar! After loading up the groceries we saw a wall of rain slowly cascading toward us. Levi volunteered to put the cart away and we tried to decide if he'd make it back in time...But he didn't and the other two dashed inside the car when it started to rain. I decided to stay outside in solidarity and headbang while having my hand in the air doing |..|/ like a rock star!
We dashed inside the car and drove back home. Levi did miss giving me an instruction at one place, but we took the scenic route and Google said it was equal time!
When we got home we unpacked and everyone was getting ready for a swanky meal at Big Fish, which was just down the hill. I made it clear to mum and dad that I wasn't going to cart Kim and Daniel to the rental place and that they could take a taxi, and they agreed. Mum also wanted me to put on pnts, but nuh, shorts.
At around 4:30 we gathered by the door and dad drove mum and Alecia and Debbie and Katie (she'd hurt her tow earlier in the day when she went on a walk to a bakery) to the restaurant while the rest of us walked. It was only down the hill and then a right turn and down a bit more of a hill. We got there and were seated at this table in an outdoor section, then we got ready and had some food!
I ordered a Lychee martini with a lychee in, and also a conke. For appetizers we had these really tasty scallops and this really amazing seafood dip. For the main course dad and I (and Alecia sharing with Debbie, who were sitting on the far opposite end of the table) ordered the Have-It-all, which was a gumbo-like plate with calamari and crawfish and lobster and scallops, and has mashed potates to the side and this cooked garlic that didn't even taste like garlic! Also they brought out some more conkes for me (eventually!) and one of them tastes alcoholic, but mum and dad couldn't taste it, but I could and told them that the second conke that arrived tasted normal...But neither was bad! Also mum said she went to the bathroom but didn't see the men's room sign and accidentally went to that bathroom instead. When I had to go I said I was gonna follow in my mum's footsteps. :B
After eating a waiter brought out loads of shot glasses and we did a shot and it was super nice, then they brought out these seeds we put in our mouth (they tasted minty!) and we had to inhale on a eucalyptus moistened cloth to cleanse our palates, and holy cow the whole restaurant was amaze! <333
It had rained a lot while we ate but when we set out to walk home it had stopped. The hill was a bit steep but not bad, and everyone else seemed to be out of breath. Sillies! It's not that far!
When we got home I used dad's phone and called grandma and told her about everything, and she seemed happy to hear from me. When I finished chatting I saw everyone was at the beach, so I grabbed my stuff and headed after them. When I got to the bottom I took my shoes off and put my bag by them and set into the ocean since sister Amber was smonking a cigar there. The waves were super rough but a lot of fun...Tho they did steal my sunglasses! Hecc! Rip glasses, but now the sea can use them and maybe some organisms will build a coral on them! Maybe my glasses will be the basis of a fantastic reef thousands of years hence...A wonderful thought! <3
After playing in the waves my mouth was pretty salty, so we headed up and I grabbed some water and I jumped in the pool to de-salt and then we went to the living room to play Jackbox! First we played Quiplash then we played Drawful then Trivia Deathmatch then we played more rounds of Drawful! It was a super fun night, but we stopped on the last prompt (Mine: “My impression of Steve Martin”...Lol wut?) because Debbie took her cell phone to the bathroom and it was the hotspot...Just as well, cell was at less than 10%. When we finished I moved furniture back to how it needed to be and helped clean a little and then charged my phone on my computer while I worked. I chatted with Keith a bit (he's not that bad by himself!) and then he went upstairs (not that bad...He had some BO all night) and I watched some Man Who Didn't Like Musicals while trying to play KoL with super spotty internet and type my journal! I also got to feel winds and the spew of water mist coming through the screen, and holy cow that's relaxing!
Eventually I finished and did a draw, then went to sleep around 3...Or tried to, except I had trouble with a sore throat and a lot of phlegm, so I dun think I got to bed until well past 4.
I hope everyone has a Big Fish restaurant day! <333
