Meant to post this back when I was posting about my work for the Furry Fantasy sports leagues.
We are now in the 2016's. Home of trap music and vines, Attack on Titan, Undertale, Really overhyped video games that didn't live up to expectations, political ads being shoved down our throats, and more.
I was enterting my Junior - Senior year at this time and was really finding my footing (finally) in art, writing, and dance.
I can't remember what class this was for, but we had to do a 4 page comic. At the time, I was heavily invested in the United Furry Football League, and had a plan to heavily push one of the characters to popularity by creating story and art for them.
It worked 'somewhat'. I stopped the push when I left the league but the character is still liked to this day.
Marcus Hopper is the cousin of Furry Basketball Association Superstar/Legend Buck Hopper. Both are rabbits dealing with the pred vs prey tension, but Marcus harbors resentment towards Buck for his negligance towards Marcus's side of the family and blames him for issues they faced. (Issues I can't remember, it's been years). He also hated being in his shadow his entire life. Marcus felt that the best way to get revenge on Buck was to overshadow his legacy, be 10x the athlete and figure Buck ever was, the TRUE Hopper.
This comic was a little introduction to that. Marcus did end up winning a championship relatively early in his career, and he is a prodigious football player. I do wonder how the character would of turned out if I stuck with the project and continued making work, but eh, it is what it is. You can still check out the character over at the UFFL.
Hope you all enjoy ^^

Yep, I believe he was originally created by
BuckHopper
And
TrivolMcKenley and I took the basic premise and ran with it. We'd planned to do a lot more with him.

Dang. This is what I call a bittersweet story. You can empathize with Marcus and sympathize as well to an extent, depending on your personal experience. But he does also seem to have the wrong sort of mindset as well in the end. He wants to eclipse his cousin, rather than break free for himself and his loved ones while encouraging others to do the same.
On the plus side, at least these lessons will stay with him when he's a parent, and I'm betting he probably donates a lot to charities that help kids who are in situations like his was at the start of this comic.
You do a great job showing the progress for these characters, man. Just incredible.

It was a good premise but I never got around to actually creating his story arc. If I remember correctly,
Story was going to be Marcus resented Buck for his success and blamed him (unfairly) for a lot of his family's problems. His character arc would of seen him letting go of his hate, getting closure for past incidents, and reconciling a family relationship with Buck.
So the Marcus you see in the comics and art at the beginning is him bitter with something to prove.
