Doodled this little sketch yesterday during the game of Exalted.
I've been having a difficult time recently making the wolf armies of Fenrir's Dar-Koldor have a unique and strong iconographic look to their armour. While I liked the designs I did last summer, they seemed too similar to designs from Lord of the Rings, so I've been trying to come up with new designs. So the first thing I've done is think "how can I symbolise what Dar-Koldor and Fenrir represents in a unique way that looks both practical, arrogant, and frightening?" Easier said than done, but I doodled designs incorporating their dragon heraldry an their vulture heraldry, but nothing seemed to work for me. So after thinking long and hard about what would strike the most fear in the hearts of the Free Canids, the only thing that struck me as terrifying was...Fenrir himself.
So after working on sketches for his Secret Police, I decided to give Fenrir's infantry similar masks. While the Secret Police have steel and bronze versions of the masks, the infantry have dyed and boiled leather versions. I further made the mask into a full helmet, but the leather on the back is carved to resemble the hair on the back of Fenrir's head (though its a lot shorter than his really is).
Under the side view of the mask are several shield shapes. I'm not sure which ones work with these chaps, so that requires work.
Let me know how much they scare you/what ya think.
Cheers,
LordFenrir
