♦ Hello ♦

finally got a job so i'll be more easy on myself about falling behind. gonna try to do some writing this time around. hopefully it's not too bad

The first thing Bernard hears upon entering the pizzeria is the wall clock in the Dining Area, echoing in the quiet and empty building. Every night it’s the first thing that greets him when he comes in for the night shift. Bernard glanced over towards the darkened stage where the animatronics stand before grabbing the flashlight off his belt and turning it on. During his walk across the Dining Area and down the hall, it felt like someone, or something, was watching his every move.

Once he got into the office, he shrugged off his jacket, hung it up on the back of the desk chair, and settled into the chair for the night. The small digital clock on the desk read 11:55 PM, a few minutes before his shift would begin. The whirring of the desk fan and the hum of the overhead light are welcomed breaks from the silence as he waited.

This was not his first night here, and he prayed it would not be his last. In recent weeks, the animatronics had been becoming more and more aggressive as it got later in the week, only for them to quiet down again on Mondays. Today was the start of a new week, his last week. He felt a little bad, knowing he would have to dump these burdens onto a new guard, but he needed to get out. He nearly didn’t make it last week. This job was killing him and he was going to take the chance to leave as soon as his contract ended. He just hoped whoever came after him, they would not have to endure years of torment from this franchise just like he has.

The clock now read 11:59 PM. He knew he’d need to leave a message as training for the new guard after him. He knew he’d need to warn them. As he reached over to grab the desk phone, he saw his hand was trembling a little. He took a deep breath to steady himself, grabbed the phone, placed it up against his ear, and pressed record.

“Hello? Hello hello?”
