TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

I see he's come to know something I realized within the past couple years.
Security is a myth. There is no ultimate protection against death and destruction. Except God, of course, but not everyone believes in him, and even then God won't keep you alive forever. We're all doomed to die at least once, and I know of no one who is excused from this fate. Best we can do is build up our defenses, of any kind, protect ourselves and our loved ones, and keep our heads on straight. It may not save us in the end, but if we die, we'll have a greater chance of choosing how we'll go out.
The only place you're truly safe is on the other side of death, and even that may not be guaranteed. All we can do is our best and leave the rest up to God or Fate, whatever you believe. Stressing out all the time about death just ain't healthy. No one ever added a day to his life by worrying.
Now if I could just get my anxiety to stop doing all the worrying for me, so loud it's hard to think, I'd be a lot better off. =P
