Kat and Drakkon exchanged sword swings for several minutes, as the two warriors continued their fight, sparks flew from their blades, nearby foliage got cut, and Drakkon would occasionally get past Kat’s guard and mark the hybrid with a small cut. The fight with the evil ranger during the night time in the woods reminded Kat of his fight with the ranger during his nightmare, as during both situations, Drakkon was clearly in a league of his own, and it didn’t help that Kat exhausted himself with all the running he did around the island not too long ago. The difference between their ability was becoming obvious to Kat, so the hybrid ran from Drakkon to get some distance between him before he tried turning into Act 1 Kat. Though Kat found that despite his best efforts, he couldn’t tap into his ancestor’s power,
“Oh no… Come on! When Elster disappeared don’t tell me I lost his abilities… no that can’t be it… I can still use the dark vortexes.. So what is it?” Kat thought to himself as he ran. It wasn’t long before Drakkon suddenly appeared in front of Kat and swung at him with his short sword. Kat blocked with his katanas, though they were broken in the process. Kat tossed his broken blades aside and moved backwards as Drakkon moved forward and kept slashing at Kat. The hybrid could dodge for the most part, but Drakkon would still land some slashes, which caused the hybrid to cry out in pain,
“I warned you! All you had to do was give me your power coin! But you just had to be stubborn!!” said Drakkon angrily as he kept moving forward and slashing at Kat. After a bit, Drakkon kicked Kat in his stomach and caused him to fall back and hit a tree. Kat panted and examined himself, he was covered in cuts, dirt, and sweat, he looked filthy, exhausted, and he was sad when he realized that he was going to die, and he’d never get a chance to talk with Sulley again since the last time he spoke with Sulley the conversation spiraled into yelling and hurtful things being said. Kat looked up to see that Drakkon pointed his short sword at his throat,
“This is it feline, any last words?” Drakkon asked,
“Yeah, if you’re so hellbent on killing me, what stopped you from killing me during the last two fights?” Kat asked,
“I wanted to put your ally in a state of disbelief, so I disappeared when it would make you seem the most suspicious,” Drakkon explained,
“I… I thought I was going crazy…” Kat commented fearfully,
“Before I killed you and took your power coin I wanted you to see just how pointless friends are,” Drakkon explained,
“But why? What do you have against friends?!” Kat asked tearfully,
“They’re dead weight! Especially for those as strong as the green ranger, they won’t be there when you really need them, not for me, and not for you!” Drakkon explained as he drew his shortsword back. Kat clenched his eyes and anticipated getting stabbed, though nothing could prepare him for what would happen next,
“Blizzard!” Ben’s voice called out. Kat then looked up to see that Drakkon was frozen in a block of ice up to his neck,
“Wh-wh-what?! Drakkon asked with a mix of anger and confusion, though before Kat or Drakkon had time to think, a very familiar monster dropped from the sky and landed beside Drakkon before immediately hitting him with a mighty punch, one strong enough to send the ranger off flying in the distance,
“I think I can prove you wrong…” Sulley commented to the ranger in the distance as he cracked his knuckles. Kat could see Sulley stand before him thanks to the moonlight that shined through the gaps in the trees, and Ben soon approached the two,
"Kat! You're hurt, here, let me heal you- Cure!" Said Ben as he gestured one of his hands towards Kat, that same hand glowing with a light green brightness that Kat immediately found around his own body, and before the hybrid knew it, all the cuts and bruises on him were gone as if he hadn't gained them in the first place,
"Ben… Sulley…" said Kat as he got back to his feet,
"Kat, we were looking all over Hawaii for you, though we ended up hearing some fighting going on in the woods," Ben explained,
"And we saw everything.. this Drakkon guy you were talking about, I can see that you were telling the truth about him…" said Sulley as he put a hand on Kat's head, the hybrid responded by averting his gaze from Sulley since he recalled the fight he had with the monster hours prior. Sulley's expression was a mix of guilty and sadness as he tried to speak,
"I'm sorry… I should've believed you when you told me about Drakkon, though with all the evidence that pointed to other explanations, I just decided you were being paranoid.. I didn't mean to make you think that I didn't care about your well-being, but you were right," Sulley explained. Sulley suddenly noticed Kat tremble a bit as he noticed teardrops fall to Kat's feet,
"I don't care about being right though… right or not, I said some awful things to you… I was just so anxious and scared, and frustrated that no one was listening to me.. so I snapped. But despite that you still went after me and helped me out when I needed you most…" Kat replied with sadness in his voice. Sulley slightly smiled as he moved his hand from atop Kat's head to his chin to tilt the hybrid's head up to have him make eye contact, Kat wasn't crying terribly hard, though sadness and guilt was present on his expression, along with two thin tear streams running down his face,
"Hey Buddy, I said some awful things to you during our fight too, that's what happens sometimes when friends fight. But I can forgive you if you can forgive me.. good friendships don't end after one fight, and I'll always have your back, regardless of what some outfitted bozos might tell you," Sulley explained with an encouraging tone
"And I do too… I mean, we barely know each other, but any friend of my bro is a friend of mine," Ben explained happily. After a moment, Kat wiped his eyes and gingerly proceeded to hug Sulley, the hybrid purred as he buried his face into Sulley's chest fur, Sulley smiled and hugged Kat back, even beckoning Ben to join in on the hug, which he did.
The group hug was what Kat needed, after all the anxiety and stress that came about because of the fights with Drakkon, and the doubt in Kat's heart of the ranger's existence, Kat could feel his confidence return to him. It wasn't long before the group hug was broken, and Kat spoke with Ben and Sulley,
"We've still got a fight to win.. Ben, do you think you can keep up with me and Sulley?" Kat asked,
"Of course I can, like I told you- I'm a keyblade wielder!" Said Ben as he summoned his keyblade to his hand. Ben's keyblade looked as though it was made of the same kind of machinery that could be found in Monster's inc, with a claw serving as the teeth for the blade, a miniature door and scare cannisters made up the handguard, one of the blue helmets the workers at the factory typically wore rested on the top of the blade that the teeth were attached to that resembled the head, and similar to Mickey's keyblade, Ben's had a keychain, and at the end was a small and goofy looking purple monster with eyes attached to antenna, and stubby white arms and legs. Kat looked at the blade in amazement,
"Wow…" Kat commented,
"I know right? This is Happy Gear, my weapon of choice!" Said Ben happily. It wasn't long after Ben revealed his keyblade that Drakkon approached the group, apparently managing to free himself from the ice,
"Are you quite done with this pathetic display?" Drakkon asked in annoyance,
"Drakkon! I'm not afraid of you anymore! With my friends by my side, my confidence has returned to me!" Said Kat proudly as he readied himself to fight once again,
"Is that right?" Drakkon asked rhetorically,
"You're the guy who's been causing trouble for us on our off time then? Well let me tell you that I don't appreciate you tormenting my friend!" Said Sulley angrily,
"Please, this changes nothing, I can take on all three of you at once," Drakkon claimed,
"Yeah? Well I've fought armies of heartless before, so I'm confident that I can take you down!" Said Ben with a confident tone.
Meanwhile in the purgatorial plane that Drakkon passed through, a version of Bill Cipher, the fourth dimensional being responsible for bringing Drakkon to Kat's dimension, had been watching over Drakkon on his mission to retrieve power coins and free him from the purgatory through a screen of energy. The dream demon pondered for a bit upon observing Ben's last statement,
"An army ay? Well how about we throw a small army into the mix to make things interesting?" Bill asked himself before he snapped his fingers.
Suddenly one hundred grey humanoid beings appeared around Drakkon in the forest,
"Huh? What are those things?" Sulley asked in confusion,
"They kind of remind me of Krybots" Kat commented,
"They're Putty Patrollers, essentially footsoldiers," Drakkon explained,
"And if I had to guess, I'd say Bill send them" Drakkon thought to himself,
"Big deal, we've dealt with hordes of lackeys before!" Kat replied, causing Ben and Sulley to chime in with agreement. Kat took a second to formulate a plan before he leaned closer to Ben and Sulley,
"Hey, I'll keep Drakkon busy while you two take care of the Putties," Kat explained,
"Are you sure Kat?" Ben asked. Kat then turned into Act 1 Kat as dark energy spiked around him and the dark blue highlight in his hair disappeared,
"I'll be fine," Kat replied as strands of blue electricity flickered off his body,
"Ok then, be careful Kat," Sulley instructed. Kat then stepped in front of Ben and Sulley,
"Hey Drakkon! You want my power coin right? Well come and take it from me idiot!" Said Kat mockingly before he took off at a blindingly fast speed as bits of blue lightning flickered around his body. Drakkon growled and gave chase to the hybrid as Ben and Sulley stood back to back with each other, ready for a fight,
"You ready for a fight bro?" Ben asked,
"I've been apart of more fights then you might realize, let me show you how we pro heroes get things done," Said Sulley before he and Ben had rushed towards the army of Putties with a battle cry.
Kat led Drakkon to the beach where they had their battle earlier, and similarly to the earlier battle the beach was vacant, though the main difference was that it was night time, so the lack of people was more understandable. Kat decided to conserve his energy, so he returned to his base form and readied himself by retrieving two stun clubs from a dark vortex,
"What makes you think you can suddenly defeat me? Did you get a boost of power from those furry freaks showing up?" Drakkon asked as he moved closer to Kat. Drakkon and Kat then lunged at each other and attempted to hit each other with their weapons with a number of swings,
"As a matter of fact, yes! I had started to doubt if you were real, but now that I know that you are, I have no reservations about fighting against you with everything I've got!" Said Kat as he kept swinging before he managed to land a few swings on Drakkon with his clubs, causing sparks to fly from his outfit. Drakkon then growled and with a mighty swing, cut Kat's stun clubs in half, before kneeing Kat in his stomach and causing the hybrid to double over. Drakkon was about to stab Kat with his flute dagger while he was down, but the hybrid quickly rolled out of the way, then kicked the flute dagger out of the ranger's hand before he armed himself with it. Kat then got to his feet and proceeded to parry the swipes from Drakkon's tiger sword with the dagger Kat swiped,
"What's the deal with this flute dagger anyway?" Kat asked as he kept his guard up,
"It's the Dragon Dagger, it used to be for summoning my zord," Drakkon explained as he kept fighting,
"What about that tiger sword?" Kat asked, Drakkon then jumped back from Kat and gestured towards his shortsword,
"This is Saba… or at least it was, he was a sentient short sword that was meant to help me control the white tiger zord once I got the powers of the white ranger. Though I broke him long ago," Drakkon explained,
"So… you never got the white ranger powers?" Kat asked,
"Oh no I did, I took them by force while I still had my green ranger powers, thus the power combined, and I became the most powerful ranger to exist!" Drakkon explained proudly. Kat then took a moment to look at the Dragon Dagger,
"I don't understand… I thought Tommy Oliver eventually overcame the darkness in his heart and became friends with the other power rangers…" Kat commented,
"Hmph, perhaps the Tommy Oliver of this dimension, in other words the weaker version of me, though I stuck with my instincts and remained strong!" Drakkon explained,
"You're wrong!" Kat replied,
"Oh? How so?" Drakkon inquired,
"See, before this trip I looked into the ranger archives, Tommy didn't become weaker after he lost his green powers, he fought many battles and went on to join a number of other ranger teams! He became a legendary hero, friends and all!" Kat explained proudly,
"What a bunch of nonsense!" Said Drakkon as he angrily lunged at Kat. Drakkon and Kat then parried each other's swipes for a while,
"Drakkon, the power coin you're after.. was that the thing you used earlier?" Kat asked as he kept blocking Drakkon's sword swipes,
"Yes, the power coin is an essential part of my morpher," Drakkon explained,
"Well why do you need one from me? By the looks of things you already have one!" Kat replied,
"My intentions are none of your business! Now shut up and die feline!" Said Drakkon as he skillfully hit the Dragon Dagger out of Kat's hand and back into his own, before lunging at Kat for a fatal stab,
"Where are your precious friends now feline?" Said Drakkon as he was following through with his attack.
A clang rang through the air, and Kat saw that in front of his throat was a red and blue nunchuk that was all too familiar with the hybrid, and it held in place as Drakkon tried going past it with his broken Saba. Kat's eyes followed along the shafts of the nunchuk to see someone he was all too familiar with holding them. Panthro stood with his back to Kat, his attention was on Drakkon and his arm didn't budge as he held his nunchuk in place,
"Closer than you might think," Panthro replied before he pushed Drakkon back and punched him in the stomach, causing the ranger to double over, before Panthro kicked him a few feet away. As Drakkon attempted to collect himself, Panthro turned his attention to Kat,
"Are you ok?" Panthro asked as he put a large hand on Kat's head, the hybrid smiled and nodded,
"That's good," Panthro replied with a faint smile,
"You came to me…" Kat commented with vague happiness,
"I told you I would when you needed me most didn't I?" Panthro asked rhetorically,
"But… how did you know I was in trouble?" Kat asked,
"It was the strangest thing, it was like this voice in my head that kept insisting on going to you," Panthro explained. Panthro's explanation caused Kat's eyes to widen,
"Voice in his head?... Could he mean-?" Kat asked himself mentally before he heard Elster speak up,
"That's right, it was me," Elster explained,
"El! What happened to you? You didn't respond to me for so long, I thought you left me somehow," Kat commented mentally,
"Nah, After I witnessed the dimension intruder threaten you, I knew I had to get help, so during my absence I was focusing on getting a message to Panthro in as vague of a way as I could manage," Elster explained,
"Wow… you can communicate with people besides me?" Kat asked,
"Only to people you're close to, so did you miss me during my absence?" Elster asked,
"Uh… just a little…" Kat replied timidly. Panthro then took his hand off Kat's head and turned his attention back to Drakkon,
"But anyway Kat, we have more important things to attend to," Panthro commented,
"Right," Said Kat with a nod as he also turned his attention back to Drakkon, who had gotten back on his feet,
"So it looks like your friend came to your rescue, big deal, taking on two people at once won't be much of an issue," said Drakkon as he readied his weapons,
"Make that three!"a familiar voice called out. Drakkon looked to his side and instinctive blocked a sword swing from Doggie, whom Kat was surprised to join them on the beach. After having his swing blocked, Doggie jumped back and joined Panthro and Kat,
"Kat, are you alright?" Doggie asked,
"I just asked him, he's fine," Panthro explained,
"What about Sulley? Where is he?" Doggie asked,
"In the woods a few minutes away from here, he's fighting Putties with Ben," Kat explained,
"Who's Ben?" Panthro asked,
"Sulley's brother," Doggie replied,
"Sulley has a brother?!" Said Panthro in surprise,
"Wait, how did you know about that?" Kat asked,
"I talk to Sulley a lot more than you, but anyway if it's just putties, Sulley should have no trouble beating them, especially with help," Doggie commented,
"Cruger… I've encountered a version of you in my dimension as well," Drakkon commented in annoyance,
"Save it Drakkon, I don't appreciate you attacking my teammates, and considering you're an enemy to rangers, I consider this fight especially personal," Doggie explained before he got out his morpher and activated it,
"SPD Emergency!" Said Doggie as a flash of light enveloped him before promptly dissipating and revealing Shadow Ranger.
Kat got out a kunai as Shadow Ranger readied his shadow saber and Panthro swung around his nunchuk,
"Big deal, I'll take on all three of you!" Said Drakkon as he charged towards the Anthros. Clangs rang through the air as the four fighters moved around at a lightning fast speed, Drakkon did well to block incoming attacks from various directions, but as the battle continued he was finding it difficult to keep up with all three Anthros, and occasionally they would land a strike. Drakkon decided to try and separate Kat from the others by grabbing him by his shirt and throwing him several feet away before rushing after him, but Shadow Ranger could keep up with his running speed and joined Kat's side when Drakkon approached him, leaving Panthro to run towards them. Drakkon attempted to stab Kat as he was getting up from the ground, but Shadow Ranger blocked his strike with his saber and then proceeded to exchange parries for a few seconds before Drakkon growled in frustration as he slashed at Shadow Ranger's head, causing a howl of pain to come from the righteous ranger as he fell to his knees and broken shards of his helmet fell beside him. Kat's heart had momentarily stopped with fear upon seeing his ally take such a heavy hit, and in the spur of a moment Kat angrily conjured up a dark vortex, reached his hand within it before immediately pulling out and using the weapon. Drakkon turned his attention to Kat to find a missile launched from the RPG the hybrid was holding and tackling into his gut. Drakkon cried out in pain as the missile sent him a decent distance away from the two Anthros before exploding, leaving Drakkon groaning on the ground as he attempted to get back on his feet. The RPG in Kat's hands broke apart after a single use, so Kat tossed it aside and immediately fell to the ground in front of Shadow Ranger,
"Doggie! Doggie are you ok?! Talk to me!" Said Kat in a panicked hurry as he finally got a good look at his ally from the front after Drakkon's attack, Doggie no longer had his helmet on, and Kat put his hand on Doggie's cheek as he looked into his eyes with concern. Doggie first responded with a nervous smile before speaking up,
"I'm ok Kat, it's just that my helmet got busted, it'll come back the next time I morph," Doggie explained, Kat huffed a sigh of relief to see his ally was ok before he carefully wrapped his arms around Doggie's neck to hug him, Doggie responded by patting Kat on the back,
"Don't worry, it'll take a lot more than that to take Shadow Ranger down," Doggie explained with a comforting confidence.
Panthro soon joined Doggie and Kat, and as Drakkon got to his feet, he came to a realization that struck him seemingly out of nowhere,
"That orange guy… I've seen him before" Drakkon commented to himself as Kat tilted his head in confusion,
"Huh? What are you saying?" Kat asked, barely being able to hear Drakkon with how far away the evil ranger was,
"I remember now… he was the black ranger! So just my luck, I managed to find two wannabe rangers I the same place," Drakkon commented as he thought back to the instance he saw Kat through Bill's strange reality screen,
"Kat what is he talking about?" Panthro asked,
"He's after me because he thinks I'm the green ranger," Kat explained,
"But.. you don't have a connection to the morphing grid," Doggie commented,
"That's what I keep trying to tell him," Kat explained. Drakkon then pointed his blade in Kat's direction,
"I'll get back to you shortly, but first, I'd like to pay a certain orange freak a visit," Drakkon explained before he took off at full speed,
"Orange freak?" Panthro asked,
"He must be talking about Ben! C'mon guys we have to help him!" Said Kat as he took off after Drakkon with Doggie following along, and Panthro soon joining them as they ran in hot pursuit of Drakkon
