Well I got the idea in my head initially just from my avatar (more-whole version does exist). Comments I've got from here and elsewhere though are consistently "This is a true assessment of the show".
It was ok I guess, aside from the filler :P But eh, I could borrow from other Mike Judge properties to help round out the village if I need to.

lol xD; I've made a policy for myself concerning any Shonen Jump anime. Expect it to take forever. So I either shrug it off and watch (One Piece, Naruto on occasion), or I avoid like the plague (Bleach). If you let it get to you it'll just fry ya :/
Though it's not SO bad since I have a lot of time spent around computers and in need of BG noise, so they can just drag on :P If the filler gets stupid I just skip it (like in the original series I could blow past 30 episodes and not have missed anything).
It's annoyingly interesting to watch, will admit.

Bleach is DBZ with swords, to the point where it's eerily parallel. It has your flash, your escalation, your Goku and Vegeta types. It's not 'bad', it just paves no new territory. I'd also go so far as to say it's design and color scheme are lacking a bit too.
Naruto takes a sharp detour around the DBZ model though. It's flash is much more subtle. It's there but it feels a lot more... natural. It's low on your Big Slash Kill Beamy Death Kame Hame Hadoukens, and finishers work more than once! Yay for finally breaking that cliche. And the characters are likable. The dramatic draw-out pauses grate, but damn. Everyone kicks so much ass. It's hard to tell if anyone truly excels far beyond the rest of the team. Not to mention the Vegeta, Sasuke, has a much deeper relevance in the story.
One Piece I've been a fan of for 8 years. I was in an exchange program the summer of 2002 and the first ep I saw was the fight between Zoro and Mr. 1. I was sold. Hardcore. It follows the escalation model but in very untraditional ways. The only cliche it has is the quantified power... though it's not straight forward either. Just pay attention to how much each character's bounty is worth :P

I would agree. And also, it's not an exact power quantifier, but during the stuff when all the top pirates were on the same island together was when it was the most transparent. Still, it's better than saying 'Luffy's power level is 300 million! That means if he accidentally farts too hard he could blow up the earth!' I mean... ffs.
And *nods* I've read up too. I feel the pain.
