Someone has thought to give a home sick tiger a small bonzai tree to comfort him...
This is another picture I've been working on for at least two weeks now. I made far greater use of masking fluid than I have before and it was fun playing around with water colour paints. The scanner hates me again, so no change there. I'm quite pleased with the final piece, as I used minimal references, but I think the bonzai tree is sadly my favourite bit.

We tried growing one too, but it never even germinated. I was tempted to buy one that was already grown up, but I decided that my thumbs aren't quite green enough for that. I couldn't even keep a Venus Fly Trap alive, despite feeding it live flies and wasps. *sigh*
You handled live wasps? You're game.
And yeah I bought one that was already done and it died within a month :S Rather embarassing. I decided a while back to buy a succulent as a plant for my room. My logic was "These things are suppose to be the most hardy plants on the planet. You'd have to TRY to kill them for them to die.
... Guess what happened? -.-

I did that with a cactus...
I have handled live wasps, although the ones that I fed to my plant were drowsy from the cold (late autumn) and so weren't objecting too much. But I did used to have this weird truce with wasps that enabled me to pick them up without any fear of being stung. I think they are somewhat misunderstood creatures.

I think bumblebees are great. They are so friendly too! I've never had a problem picking one up. I used to be scared of wasps as well, but then I realised that they can probably sense my fear and that aggravates them. So I made the conscious choice to calm down and let them have a look at me. And once I was no longer afraid, we had a very happy co-existence. ^_^
