I started this on Sunday. The skull itself is finished. I made it out of paper mache, a wolf's upper and lower jaw made of acrylic, and of sculpey clay.
The entire thing is made out of paper mache except for the teeth and pink part of the mouth, which is an acrylic jaw that I bought off of Furbuy.com. The only thing holding those in place are paper mache and masking tape. The nose and underside of the lower jaw are both completely hollow except where I used sculpey clay to support and hold them in place where they attach to the mask mask and at the nose, where it forms a neat little arch that will be added to in the shape of an actual nose. The cavity will remain hollow, and on the inside it will surround my nose so that once the mask is really done, it'll look like I'm actually breathing.
Fun Fact- Paper mache breathes and stays cool while foam and plastic trap heat. And when enough patience to use several layers is used, then the stuff is hard as a rock as well. As. A. Rock.

I will be putting some foam on the inside to cushion the mask on my cheeks and nose, as the mask itself fits perfectly, but the separate lower jaw sticks out a little further than it was supposed to and so the mask must be pushed out a little as well to allow the teeth to come together properly. There will also be a head-harness of elastic to hold it all in place so that the lower jaw moves with my own while the upper stays securely in place.
I'll be very relieved when I actually have the extra padding and actual fur on the outside of this thing xD Right now it's just plain creepy.
