Now this really is excellent... I love how you've got the light glinting on the upper side of the ball and the shadow is darkly cast underneath it.

Although I admit all the art I've ever done is 3D modelling, I would make one criticism: shouldn't the main point of light on the limb of the sphere be at the mid-point of the cone of light? That's what tends to happen in my (limited) experience. Also, shouldn't the far limb of the sphere be brighter? It wouldn't be in shadow since it's illuminated; I would have thought it would just fall away with a very thin delineation between it and the background.

But - please, oh please, don't think I think this is anything but excellent. What do I know, as I said? I'm just a writer
