...of peace through superior firepower
Took me long enough to come up with this concept. If you guys remember back, the original Si'itian MBT was essentially a floating Halo Scorpion, so I sat down last week and started reworking the entire concept fromt he ground up.
I went through several designs and eventually ended up with this one. Something you don't see here is that the body ended up looking perversely similar to one of the Tier 1 bodies from Earht2150:Moon Project, but that was entirely unintentional and I only realized when I zoomed out XD
Ah well, hope you guys enjoy :3
Kadesh 2 Main Battle Tank
Designer and
Manufacturer: Karak Armories
Unit cost: (K2C MBT) 8,2 million Anri
Weight: 156t (metric)
Dimensions:
L: 13,2 m
W: 5,2 m
H: 3,8 m
Propulsion: 8 Graverse Gills
Armor: 220 - 760 mm Alisium Armorframe fitted with Casmasite
Dylectrics Corp. Energyshield
Armament:
Saimati V5 20mm co-axial machine gun
Alanaria Arms 140mm main coil gun
Saimati V5 20mm secondary turret mounted perimeter defense machine gun
Background:
The Kadesh was not favored much by the armored platoons of the Si’itian Guard which it was first issued to. The crews had a hard time adapting to the broader chasis and heavier acceleration, compared to previous models, but it soon gained more positive reputation when fielded against a Selecinian separatist group on Onhorep IV.
The flatter, heavier armor of the Kadesh withstood multiple assaults in combat actions that were confirmed to have at least critically damaged the earlier models. The perimeter defense machine gun was also a very welcome addition, since it allowed the tank to ward of anti-armor warheads and close- quarter infantry, without having to manouver itself much or rely on its shield and armor to protect it.
Despite its protective advantages, there’s still problems present. Due to their size, Si’itians and their equipment already have trouble moving in spaces and urban environments not designed with their perimeters in mind. The broader chasis and the long main gun severly limit the Kadesh’s capability in confined spaces, which the perimeter defense weapon cannot always compensate for.
Newer versions feature shorter barrels and advanced compact designs for the chasis, but the basic layout still remains the backbone of the Si’itian Armor Command around the Galaxy

What's the overall story behind these vehicles you design? Are they used for story work or a game of yours or somesuch?
They really are quite excellent.
As you said you don't do mecha work, i'd LOVE to try and design one to fit your little Blue-Scarab 'Si'i'tian' army background. I do love mecha, and I'm sure I could design one for just about any role.
I have the most fun when I can work to a design, and see what I can present.
Hope to speak to you more. Gonna go look in your gallery now! :D
Cya!

I actually played through the entire game and the UCS and Alien campaigns were actually not bad, the UCS had some awesome designs for land units including one that looked like one of the robots from voltron (I think, I never watched the show) the alien air units were also quite interesting but unfortunately you had to get through the horrible ED and LC campaigns I actually started playing it again recently and oddly enough my anti-virus detected a a trojan virus in the main exe (which is odd since I bought the game new)
It's an -ancient- (by today's standards) game, came out back in 1997. The Chameleon tank happened to look quite similar to such, although it possessed very little armour and had to rely quite heavily upon it's cloaking device to survive any encounter (and, y'know, surprise, guerilla hit and run tactics). Sadly, i couldn't find any screenshots of the game.. Was a fun tank to zip around in, once you figured out how to "deal" with it's (serious) flaws compared to the other four tank models.
Gawd, that brings back memories of beta testing Godzilla Online (as well as Aliens Online *grins* Facehugger marine rape for the win (killing a marine as a facehugger was virtually impossible, especially if the marines had flamethrowers)).
In other words, was a random comment on a nice tank as it brought back memories of a game I used to play aeons ago ^_^ (And yes, I did pay $10 or $15 a month to play it back when it was out *laughs nervously* Played quite a few games through Microsoft's Gaming Zone (as well as TEN, mPlayer, and GameStorm, back when a ping of 280 was considered "normal" (normal now is what, 60-80ms?))

I dunno, I liked C&C Tiberium Sun 3, it was interesting to see the aftermath of the second game and how the earth changed due to the tiberium exposure, although I think the scrin were obviously a rip-off from the last war of the worlds movie (or was it the other way around?) anyway they did a good job of the tiberium sun part of C&C and they also finally got rid of the barracks building only one soldier at a time (they now build an entire squad of troops that work as one.)
You realize of course that the aftermath of the second game would not have been anything like C&C 3 and quite a number of things aren't logical?
Like, where did all the Tiberium Fauna go...or why did they replace the Walkers with tanks, when the tanks cost more than the walkers did in TS?
And the Barracks building only one soldier/now building squads that can only be controlled as squads was the dumbest thing I've ever seen them do, cuz you can't do scouting propperly anymore. One of the big deficits of the Dawn of War games. The only game in which I've actually seen that work propperly was Ground Control.

true the Nod ending of C&C 2 would not allow for C&C 3 to continue but the ending of the GDI side would allow for it to continue, you also have a good point about the lack of the tiberium fiends and other animals. As for the walkers, they addressed this in one of the tactical files talking about how the walkers were too often being crippled with c4 charges, oh and if you get the expansion Kanes Wrath you do get to use the old titan and wolverine units in the steel talons division. you can still scout but it does take a little more finesse to manage not getting them into trouble.
this is an amazing tank design Ipoke... makes me wish ya could have done up that one idea i had years ago when i talke to you *claps* ^.^ i hope to see more like this! hmmm though it gives me ideas and wants to doodle up my own little vehicles for ya... though i don't think mind will be as good as this :P
Nice tank
sorry i could not help my self to make a low poly 3D model of it :p

Sorry, book reference. A 'Bolo' is a Sci-Fi battle tank created by the author Keith Laumer. Early Bolo marks are fairly simple, but get bigger and are eventually given self-awareness; there's a lot of interesting creative history to get lost in. Anyway, the MK 1 Bolo is pretty much a 150 ton version of an M1A1 Abrams, but with advanced fire-control, armor, point defence/anti-personel weapons, a 150mm DSFSLRP main gun and can hit 80 kph. I highly recommend the books if you find them.
No, no, no, no, no. C&C only continues as a name, it is not the actual C&C that it was supposed to be. Westwood had a completely different story in mind and a far better understanding of how the Tiberium World worked.
What we have now is a reversion of everything that was ever good about C&C to mainstream, profit gain, three way battles. Did you hear how they want to cripple C&C4? No bases? Unit limits? Wtf people?!?!?

Nice design and nice rendering, clean and crisp shading. I love seeing original units
I'd suggest moving the turret back about a meter and a half so its fulcrum starts where the angle part starts, i.e. where the roof lines make that T. That'd make the front turret armor into cool fins and make the barrel sit farther back so it'd be easier to maneuver (and fit onto carriers)
Also I like the head on that soldier, cute ear armor, or are those heatsinks?

Oh if you have any free time, by all means, please do.
To cut the longs story short, a race was exiled from it's original planet by an evil empire, and a long convoy of ark ships undergone many problems on their way to the relocated home. One of the transport crafts got lost in a nebula, and it's inhabitants spend many hundreds of years trapped in a colony ship, without hope of coming back to the original path. In time they forgot about their origin and destination and built a settlement in which they entrapped incoming vessels with the aid of hyperspace inhibitors.
Here is the original Kadeshi design, 1999.

If you never encountered HW before, then, wow, it's a wonder how you guessed the design from the name.

OK, perhaps I should clarify my comment: The typical SF tank someone draws makes the worst designs of the interwar period look good[1]. You not only drew something that passes muster, but which is actually very good at avoiding shot traps.
[1] "How about we slope the hull armour all the way to the turret ring and reverse slope the bottom of the turret?" Resulting in a meter wide, 360 degree shot trap that brings shells right into the turret ring.

Nice tank here. Do you have a cut-away view like you did to the ship you did? Like this one:
