Soooo Sphynxes. Do they have anything weird going on for them? Sure. If they roar you would not want to be anywhere near them as they can totally crack stone with their roar...

...and have you wondered why would anybody answer their riddle and not straight out take a sword to them? These are not exactly as big as a palace, unlike the one from the myth. So, the fact is... they can entrance people when they ask questions demanding an answer. Said person just becomes fixated in finding the answer if they can or unless they are able to will themselves into not giving it.
