Yeah, technically and legally you can't sell fan-art based stuff but usually people don't mind. I think smaller studios protect their copyrights more as they often rely on merchandise sales to make some profit. Bigger studios usually don't bother with people trying to make a smaller profit but some will take down your stuff if it features their characters. BUT I'm super excited this has given you the idea to do more your own characters. I can't wait to see more!
