I drew a (non-furry) student newspaper comic in spring of 1988, but had to quit after 40-some strips. That summer, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" came out in theaters, influencing my choice of characters for a possible new comic strip. By October '89 I had a few character concepts, gathered here.

I visited Disney World about that time and wondered what each rabbit would be thinking when visiting the castle.

Lugnut: Dumb but well-meaning
Bennett: Cool dude (surf punk)
Thumbtack: Stereotypical nerd

Not very deep characterization, I know, but hey. I think I had this hangup about trying to draw clothing wrinkles properly at the time.
