I was in a similar position, but the T-shirt had the slogan "Huggably Gothic".. The Goths never stopped taking making fun of me. But that didn't stop me befriending them. smooth still appear like an ass-hat, but still gain casual acquaintances, which turned to friends once everyone forgot about the incident. ;D

this happened to me with my busch gardens shirt in 1996.. It had a buff shirtless depiction of falcon-headed Montu and i did that 'wait till the first day of school' thing and then got teased for having a 'naked man shirt', FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. KIDS.

oh god i just remembered, i havn't been 'teased for a shirt' since then except ONE TIME AT SCC.. I was wearing a shirt with roger the alien on it and some guy was like "HUR DUR UR SHIRT SUX" and I'm like "really? SRSLY? YOU'RE OLDER THAN ME, GODDDD"

I STILL have people saying this to me for the cartoons I like, and Inuyasha not being one of them. :P Also for playing pretend, though every adult and their mother role plays, which to me is pretty much the same.

I've been there too. I wore a Looney Tune shirt with Tweety on it back in high school, then some kid went and said" LOL! LOOK SHE HAS TWEETY ON HER SHIRT FUCKIN" LOSER!!" Really loud..I mean, LOUD enough for the whole school to hear. Yeah...never wore that shirt again.

See now, Tweety was acceptable for girls when I went to high school. Tweety, or Winnie the Pooh characters were considered fine. And guys had these shirts with Looney Tunes characters dressed in baggy hip hop inspired clothes.

I had the Looney Tune shirts with the characters all dressed up in baggy clothes too(I forgot about those!). Bugs and Taz as Kriss Kross and the Looney Tune females ( before Lola) dressed up as TLC. Man this takes me back....90's!

This is the only reason I was happy to reach adulthood... now I have my own money, and I can spend it on whatever silly crap I want and no one can say anything about it. Hell, I've gotten a lot of compliments on my Spongebob and Invader Zim shirts lately (and one very tiny but very evil female coworker threatening to steal them when I'm not looking).

Amazingly, I have never had that problem.

Same thing happened to me, only I used to wear these little dresses in kindergarten. When I went to 1st grade, this one girl made fun of me for wearing them and I never wore one again.

It was like that with my Sonic & Knuckles shoes =< They were all black with JUST the logo of the game on the side. Nothing loud, nothing obnoxious like most other shoe designs nowadays with some kind of entertainment franchise attached to it. But I was still ridiculed for my shoes not having some gay Nike swoosh on it.

Ah middle school and by extension high school. Luckily I was part of the social group known as other so we were generally ignored by the populace of the school. Though the downfall of being an other was you sort of just associated yourself with like five people and thats it XD

I can totally relate. When i was in 5th grade my best friend was obsessed with Aah!! Real Monsters, Rocko's Modern Life and The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat. Thanks to some stupid kids' constant bashing, we never talked about those shows in school :c

Oh childhood. It feels like there's this awkward middle school period where expressing your opinion at all invites ridicule, especially in regards to lower age group media. Then after high school you're allowed to enjoy it again and hardly anyone says anything.
