LoL DONE. It's bound in a book now, but the book isn't totally done so I'll just take photos of that once it is. So here are the illustrations.
Assignment: An alphabet book; my subject is mythological creatures, beings, and monsters.
3 weeks, 26 paintings (4.5x6"). Acrylic paints on pastel paper.
The creatures in the books are labeled, but I scanned these before I added those:
Sphinx
----Greek [greek version, not Egyptian]; wily creatures with the head and torso of a human woman. They delight in riddles.
Tengu
----Japanese; wild and dangerous, crow-like protectors of forest and mountains.
Undine
----European; a water spirit without a soul. They often take the form of beautiful women.
Vetala
----Hindu; spirits inhabiting dead bodies, Vetala have an uncanny knowledge of the past, future, and universe.
Werehyena
----African; these clever and ruthless animals have the ability to transform into human shape.
Xindhi
----Albanian; generally cruel to humans, these imps' coming can be told by flickering candles and creaking doors.
